I thought it was really sweet of him to try to cheer her up. I couldn't keep a straight face when he wore that hat. I don't always agree with Archie's political views. But he is funny and this is a sweet gesture.

I remember this episode😢. It broke my heart to see Edith so broken hearted and depressed. Archie tried his best to cheer up Edith.... But the look on Michael face LoL😂 may I have the next dance. Priceless they do not make sitcoms like that anymore.

That was very sad when Edith opened the scarf from Beverley and read Beverley's note. 😞 Edith was already hurting after Beverley's senseless death. Opening Beverley's gift & then seeing Beverley's note had to be very painful for Edith. 😔

CHristmas was always a rough time at the Bunker household. Edith had a Lump one year. Then her friend here was murdered another year. . Archie lost his bonus. Draft dodger visited same time as friend who lost son. Mike and Gloria annouce divorce. Can't remember one nice Christmas over there.

I often feel like Edith did in this episode. I still believe there's a Higher Power in this world, I still try to talk to that Supreme Being, but I am filled with doubts about the way I was brought up to believe, tired of people telling me what to believe. If God is all fire and brimstone and eternal torment, then I would rather not believe. I have to think that supreme being is also supreme intelligence, endlessly forgiving,

God knows that we will go through the highs and lows in life. I think he gave us free will so we can have the power of choice. When we make poor choices, we should learn from them to avoid our consequences. God does not need to be punished or corrected because He has done nothing wrong.

A close friend of Edith's, a transsexual named Bev LaSalle, was murdered as part of a hate crime right before Christmas. She becomes depressed and broken. Archie and the family try to cheer her up, to no avail. Archie gave her a present that was actually from Bev. When she saw it was from her, Edith ran away more upset. If I remember correctly, it was Mike, of all people, that helped Edith snap out of her depression and helped her find her joy and helped to restore her faith in God in the end.
