Expensive! Heated floors take a lot of power. People do love them but in cold climates your energy bill goes up times 4. Just be ready for that . If you have solar the you will be OK.

What a great video showing how the process is coming along, amazing how much manual labor goes into your build. The brass plumbing fixtures are amazing, great choice with the rustic stone work of the home. I’ll be interested in seeing how it looks after time. My vote would be do the heated floors now, sounds very convincing, they will add so much heat when you need it and I think you will be very happy you did it now, but I think that’s where you are leaning towards. Trust your instincts, so far, all of your choices with this build have been perfect! This home is going to be a stunner when completed. Brittany, Christmas time completion? That would be awesome.

Every time we see the overhead shot of the mill/property I’m amazed at how much it has changed. Now that change we’re seeing inside the mill too! It’s very dreamy! I can just imagine how beautiful the end result will be & in a few years time once all your landscaping /fruits/veggies etc has grown in even more magical! Remember your access as you buy furniture. Measure every doorway, hall and stairway it may travel through. The heated floor sounds lovely in winter! We had a villa in Guia growing up as a holiday home & some Autumn/Winters could get quite nippy. We had a fire, but I’d have appreciated the underfloor heating.

We love our 5 mini splits in our offgrid prop. Had to turn the heat on for the first time this year here in NoAZ. We couldn't do heated floors with our wild quick temperature changes. It wouldn't keep up. We love the wood fireplace and dang a mini split heats up this barndo in 2.5 secs LOL. Your mill is coming together OMGosh we can feel it!!!! We're so glad we're done making all those decisions. It took us a year to recoup LOL we were so tired.

I hope you have either a picture of where every water and drain pipe is on the floor or at least a drawn map of where it all is because if you develop a leak you will have to actually chisel out the floor to find and repair it.

Avoid a disaster, pressure test all the water lines. Being buried in mortar it would be a lot of work to discover any leak and then repair.

Really love the time lapses of the guys working. It's great to see how smart they work and their extreme skill! So interesting! I vote for heated floors. I live in Hawaii and I'd get them in a new build 100%. One acclimates to their environment. You will get cold with tile floors even if it's not very cold out. Trust me!

Hi Guys brilliant video as always❤. One thing to consider about underfloor heating to be aware of with concrete floors if you end up with a leak it’s a lot of work to dig up the floor to access the leak in the future, especially if the leak was under your concrete island.

Wow... its all moving along quickly now. Since the floor is still wide open, take advantage of this opportunity. Put in all the guts for floor heating and connect down the road if you want it. For the lack of sink option - sad to hear they don't have what you want. Maybe take a road trip and along the way stop in at salvage stores ...maybe you will find an old farm house sink that has history and is a piece of art. You never know what you might find and fall in love with.

It’s wonderful to see how so much of the rest of the world build things to last and build them so well.
