Sounds like the “Big Suck Attack TM” Is a standard raid boss DPS check, which are often really bad mechanics for exactly the reason you found. It’s not a test of skill when done poorly, it’s just whether or not you can pump them full of enough bullets. Theoretically a DPS check can put your communication/coordination to the test, with things like ammo/ability management, reload timing, positioning, etc. In games like Destiny though, that have a really wide open sandbox in terms of builds and whatnot, you can’t really balance for that. There are just so many combinations of loadouts people can bring that any attempts at balancing are more like build railroading. That’s why, imo, a lot of Destiny raid bosses are just bullet sponges, and the coordination test is in the form of the actual raid mechanics surrounding the incremental damage phases. It would be way better to have some sort of way to deal damage in a way that’s not just “Complete objective then sit still and shoot for 15 seconds.”

Game needed another solid 1 and a half years atleast of development, prob more like 2 and a half. Sucks cause you can see shimmers of mad potential now compared to at launch but unfortunately Xbox shut them down entirely at this point. If they spent another year or so on a bit more content, polish, etc with also a healthy seasonal live service in place to flesh the game out even more genuinely could have seen this game funny enough actually being some cool. Just seems like they got it to the barebones stage of development where it technically works while jank but feels like playing a dev build more than an official release, then decided to ship due to deadlines. Seems like they definitely had more plans and ended up scrapping them to make the deadline, when you play it feels like stuff is missing in certain parts of the game

Redfall is a fine experience for solo players who enjoy reading every note and absorbing the lore in each area (a natural strength of Arkane Studios.) However, this game is not balanced well with a team of 3 or 4 players. The music and world itself is appropriately creepy, but I only jump into Redfall by myself. I suppose I'd rather stake vampires in the apocalypse by myself. Not every bloodbath needs a Rick Grimes...

The lore and the story and the vibe was good. Just hope they don't make blade like this. I vampire gameplay like that and played but I don't want it to be as boring as this game was. I love the music every time I level up. I love the vibe but just not fun 100% inning because I have to run around the whole map getting these grave things 😂

Redfall on paper has a lot of potential. The downfall of the game comes from the studio not really having passion to make the game, not having experience in a genre like this, and leadership not giving a cohesive vision for how all of the games elements should of come together. Give the IP a reboot with a different studio who has passion for co-op games and vampires and it could be a certified banger.

Just 100% it this morning I had started back in May of last year and forgot about the whole game and just it this morning but to be honest, I think it's a good concept game. It was really cool. Just really could have been changed out a lot of stuff. I love looter scooter games. The concept was there killing vampires and just stabbing them like there. Needed to be more gameplay aspects though it's done for they should have had spent time on it. Working on it before they even released the game because as soon as the game dropped dirty FPS literally killed the whole game. Everyone didn't want to play it and now the reputation of it's ruined so I don't think there's no coming back

That bosses healing/damaging the whole team mechanic is definitely a DPS check. A really bad one. Wben destiny does it, you get a good 30-60 seconds before the insta kill happens. Here it seems you get like 5 seconds before you all die Horrible

I avoided this game based on terrible reviews. Bummer because “Borderlands/Left 4Dead/Far Cry but with vampires” sounded amazing. Last week I watched a video about “update 4” with some fresh gameplay. Looked good to me so I found a copy at the local GameStop and had low expectations but high hopes. Installed with no issues on my Xbox Series X. I’ve played it for about a week. No idea if I’m 50% through it or 5%, it feels like I have much much more left to do. It’s quite smooth with gameplay and exploration being a blast. It only crashed once so far, in the middle of a fast travel. Also I don’t like that if you don’t finish a side mission and save/quit, the mission resets to the beginning. Of course the “cut scenes” are a bit lame. But heck, every game I’ve ever played crashed at least once and there were things I didn’t like, so no big issues for me so far. I haven’t finished the game, but I’d give it an 8/10 up to this point with hopes of an epic ending to bump my score up. Shame it was launched in a terrible state and there’s no hope for future content nor updates. Id love a little more polish, some DLC and even at least rumors of a sequel, but based on what I’ve experienced thus far, I’m enjoying it and look forward to finishing the game. Enjoyed the vid!

I tried this as a Solo player last night.... Horrible Boring voice over with equally boring cut scenes.... I spent 10 mins changing the controller settings because the default setting is some sort of horrible non-linear mapping which means it incredibly difficult to aim. Not that it matters as the auto-aim almost snaps like an aimbot but I struggled to even walk in a straight line ..... so far so bad The initial feel of the world is very cartoony (a bit like Deathloop)... The bad guys are generic. I ran around the first hub area and people wouldn't talk to me because you had to talk to them in order..... and all the talking reveals is - Each character is a different type of shop. Don't think I will go back for a second look

Arkane was divided into 2 main studios. Arkane Austin made Redfall. Arkane Lyon made Deathloop and the other Dishonored games. Deathloop gets some random undeserved hate from some yappy corners of the internet, but it's actually a very good game. It's nothing at all like Redfall in any way.
