I'm homesteading in place in Fl and use my power station not only for hurricanes but also to supplement my everyday electric usage powering my Den. It has really made a difference in my bill. I'm now investing in a solar array and a couple of batteries. It doesn't have to be a disaster or whole house solar. Thanks for demonstrating what these workhorses can do.
@WillEdmond14 күн бұрын
That's fantastic to hear! It's great that you're finding practical uses for your power station. A solar array sounds like a smart investment for both everyday use and emergencies. Keep up the great work on your homesteading journey!

How will you stay cool in Florida?
@CherrieMcKenzie13 күн бұрын
@@juliava605 I've retrofitted insulation in my older home, closed off A/C in rooms that are not in use during the day, and at night turn off the A/C for the entire house and use a 5K btu window unit for my bedroom that can be powered by a power station to stay cool while sleeping (why cool the entire house when I'm in a little over 300 sq ft). Doing those things have extended the life of my A/C system, cut my energy bill, AND kept me cool.

Better check that background noise distortion on this unit. A lot give off a lot of interference. The standby consumption is 100 watts so running a rig wouldn’t be advised. Anker makes smaller units that would be perfect. I have many brands and Point Zero Titan is a great low frequency system. Good luck.

Nice unit and safe to leave indoors wihout the toxic fumes. Add a extra battery to the unit for longer run times or use the gas generator to keep that Anker charged if the sun is blocked by clouds on a cloudy day. That unit allows multiple ways of charging and can be charged with solar panels and the generator at the same time to increase the charging power

You can build a similar diy set up with 2 or 4 marine batteries ,power inverter, travel case with wheels and a solar panel briefcase to add a recharge option for under 1000, but that solar generator is a game changer but the warranty is key. Batteries leak, some could have dead cell, a fuse might need to be replaced. That's when the warranty and customer service really shows a good company

Good vid and thumbs up. Like the cabin. We built a totally off-grid 12x24 barn style in the Sacramento Mts of NM. Bought an Anker 767 (2024 W/hrs) and later a Solix BP2600 (2550 W/hrs) expansion battery (total, about 4570 W/hrs). It can run 3 sets of lights, 4.5 cu ft refrigerator, ceiling fan (no need for any cooling up here, just heat!), pressure demand pump, keep my radios charged (NO cell service for 45 miles) Starlink setup, computer, small 5 cup coffee maker. Don't use a microwave, but they suck about as much juice as a coffee maker. 350 watts worth of solar panels and we do just fine. Snow days--these days!--requires firing up the gas generator for recharge for an hour or so. Wanted to mention to anyone who needs to know that the Anker Solix apps on the phone allow you to set the charging input wattage. Wasn't in my 'instruction manual' so stumbled on it, but maybe is now. Of course, slow charge is best, but in a pinch can be set up to 1400 input watts. Unless something has changed in the past year, there's no way to set the input rate on the generator itself. If you're in Texas, hope there's not a repeat of a few winters ago. We stood at 4° this morning with two inches of snow.

So far I have a pecron e3600lfp and a 255watt solar panel, trying to save up the $900 needed for four 540w solar panels and then I should be able to charge my car from the sun. Plenty of sun in the Carolinas, I think I should be able to get 30-40 miles a day of range.

If your kw demand is low enough you can claim anything. Throw a elec. hot water heater, oven, a/c on there and you are out of the game. The cheapest way for elec. is to buy from utility company. They are by far the most efficient at co generation. If you are not capable of their services then you might want to re design you life style. Propane or diesel are not cheap either. What do you do during a string of sunless days.
@WillEdmond11 күн бұрын
Yup, the AC is a mini split. The stove? Runs 100% on propane-and I pay just $1.50 a gallon. I call that cheap. Plus, my hot water heater isn’t running 24/7. I actually designed my entire lifestyle to be efficient and intentional. That’s probably why you’re here-and why others are too. Appreciate you watching and commenting!
