In Game 3 of the 1970 NBA Finals, New York Knicks forward Dave DeBusschere buried a go-ahead jumper in the closing seconds, but "The Logo" (Jerry West) heaved a 60-foot two-pointer to force overtime. Also, shout out to Wilt who grabbed 169 rebounds in the finals (roughly 24 rebounds per game). BTW, Bill Russell holds the NBA record for 189 rebounds in a finals. Dame one is so much better than Steph's double bang. Like Dame's couldn't get any better unless it was in a game 7. It's a playoff buzzer beater, not only that but you not only call game but you call series. You go for 50 in that game and that is what gets you 50. There has been talking against Russ and PG all series. PG had that unnecessary windmill at the end of game 3 in Oklahoma and you than finish the series by shooting over that same guy that disrespected you like that 2 games ago. You also end the Russ debate. Everyone has Russ ranked higher before this moment as a player and Dame goes into this series and proves he's better in everyday and waves Russ bye. This also is the start to their Western Conference Finals berth for them which is key for Dame's legacy. That's the drama and greatness side of things. But than you have the shot. This is not a rushed shot. Shot clock is off but you have all the time to take any shot you want. You dribble time away to leave no time for OKC. A top 3 DPOY candidate is guarding you and you hit a side step from 37 feet with comfort. And it ain't a "lucky shot" either. Lillard was shooting 7/11 from beyond 30 that series before this shot. That's over 60%. It is not a catch and shoot or a straight pull up either, the degree of difficulty is insane with a 6'7-6'8 guy contesting your shot and you taking a side step 3 from 37. And the celebration. This is the coldest celebration in NBA history. You just hit maybe the best shot in NBA history, just in terms of the shot made rather than the moment, and Dame doesn't jump in joy, he isn't reacting at all. He casually walks off waving goodbye to OKC like it was just another shot. And the meme afterwards. Every Blazer player is on him and Dame just stares at the camera with no emotion at all. It doesn't get better than this. From the storyline, to the impact this has on the player, it being a playoff buzzer beater and a series ender, the celebration, difficulty of the shot, the celebration and the memes. This is just perfect. No disrespect to Steph but saying Steph's shot, that wasn't a buzzer beater or a playoff game winner, is even near what Dame pulled off, is insanity.
