i've loved the impressions and curtis mayfield since i first bought the 45 of "it's alright" back in 1963. this should be the song playing every time our next president kamala harris enters the room....before it becomes "hail to the chief".

@MAPR PR I grew up in a small town in Texas but in the summer I would go stay with my 3 girl cousins in Houston. We would listen to soul / r&b station KYOK. Whenever ‘We’re a winner’ would come back around on the rotation the whole vibe in the house would light up. You said it well, the song put me in a different place, a positive place.

Thank you, Danny, this is really nicely put together. I was a teenager when all this was coming down, I remember the policemen putting their vicious dogs and fire hoses on the Black protesters, I remember when JFK, then Malcolm X, then MLK, then Bobby Kennedy were murdered. But all through it, Curtis Mayfield's music was beautiful and also like a moral backbone. It helped tie together the unraveling strings.

Wow what a songwriter Curtis was a genius too bad what happened to him he was paralyzed the stage from on him breaking his neck he lived for a few years after the accident then he passed I can't remember the year.
