Dadong is more modern. They have a lot of modernized Chinese cousin fitted for westerners, very fancy. Recommend the latter.

The label of the beer you drank is 燕京啤酒 (Yanjing Beer) - hidden in the name is not only the good taste but is also rich in history! During the Warring States Period of Chinese history (475 - 221 BC) there was 1 of 7 States by the name 燕 （pronounced as Yan), her capital city was 蓟 (pronounced as Ji) which is today’s Beijing. That’s why 北京 （pronounced as Beijing) is also called 燕京 (pronounced as Yanjing)。 Does this make your beer tastes better?😊

Thanks for another great piece of work! Quan Ju De might be the oldest Peking Duck restaurant in town but it’s really more of a tourist destination now. You guys should try Si Ji Min Fu (四季民福）, which is where the locals would go. Enjoy your time in Beijing!

People normally smear the black sauce on the pancake, then pile in the duck skin/meat and vegetables. Then roll everything up and eat them. Usually they will provide you with fried rice with the rest of duck meat and a soup as well.

The main building of Quan Ju De was refurbished in the 1990s, it maintains 60s/70s/80s style with grand dinning hall. Latest Peking duck restaurant arrangement will give you more privacy in comparison. When duck skin melts in your mouth, you know you choose the right one. Also recommend to have a half-day in Niu Jie Street, Xicheng District. It's the largest Muslim residential area in Beijing and you will find so many lovely Halal food and snacks over there.

Amazing, absolutely amazing! 1) They sliced the duck head into two for you to suck the brain out. 2) The sauce was not for dipping; you spread the sauce onto the pancake, put in your filling, then wrap. 3) Should have asked the waitress for demonstration: wrapping the pancake using just chopsticks. That sauce for the Beijing duck is supposed to be added onto the inside of the wrap... lightly.. as to not to take away the favor of the duck meat and the duck fat of the skin. Dripping into the sauce kind of cuts down the taste 😅😊

I heard in china, when u order full package or whole duck, they will serve u in 2-4 kind of dishes, 1. roast duck with thin pan cake 2. the dark soup 3. duck meat spring roll 4. crispy salted duck rack and etc correct me if I'm wrong WOW, the bird nest stadium is stunning, I think the best time to go is in winter or spring and evening time, otherwise, climbing up to the top will make ladies make up drop and sweaty, and you couldn't take any stunning pictures.

I think this duck place is considered the original but a little expensive for local. I read there are a couple other places cheaper and tastier. I think they are called DaDong and Four Seasons. But tourists probably don't want to wait there because they are usually very crowded. You can always try roast pigeon if you ever travel south to Zhongshan near Shenzhen, Macau or Hong Kong. Blondie in China has a video on eating pigeon in Zhongshan.

So glad to see you guys come back to Beijing after your Tianjin tour, really love your videos! As a Beijing native, I highly recommand you to go to more historic sceneries cause Beijing is such a profound city with a very rich of history, as I suggested previously, you can visit JingShan Park& Bei Hai Park both of which were royal gardens during the Ming&Qing Dynasty, as they are near to each other, you can start the tour from late morning to the afernoon, after exit to the north gate of BeiHai Park, you can cross the road to the opposite side which the HouHai area locates, in which you can find lots of local pubs and local cusines. In the next episode, I suggest you guys to tour the Summer Palace& the Yuan Ming Garden, you will be definitely fascinated by them, the views from the top of the summer palace moutain is so gorgeous, different from the view in town, you can take a bird's-eye view of the entire city, I think that will make your video more splendid! The first plate of duck, mostly skin without meat, is supposed to be dipped a little bit in the sugar, to give one more touch of umami on top of the fat and crispy taste. To make the pancake you can dip the duck meat in the sauce first and then wrap in the pancake with cucumber and spring onion. You can ask the waiter to make one for you for demonstration. But as long as you enjoyed it you can eat whatever way you like:) Enjoy the rest of your trip!
