Күн бұрын

we're on a quest to make the world's fastest stock bottom end (piston, rod, crank, block) 8.1 vortec powered silverado, and later this summer we're going to run a 9 second quarter pass with UglyTruck, but do do so, we need to make a few small changes in the induction and suspension department. Today, we're doing just that, all while improving the looks.

Brake rotor direction usually goes by the direction of the veins. If veins are straight up and down it really don’t matter which direction you put them.

1:22 I think that style of rotor scoops air inwards towards the rotor with the direction the veins are going, which it why the manufacturer tells you to go that direction.

For what it's worth I put my rotors on the same way. Left or right side really only matter if the vains inside the rotor are curved, most are straight making air flow through the rotor the same no matter what direction it spins.

have you ever thought of cutting the bedside internal braces and changing them to all thread with a sleeve that spins out to get more clearance on the tires? I had a friend with an OBS who could get around an inch and a quarter to inch and 3/4 before causing problems and still look barely stock but had a lot of clearance for tires if you are a serious street hound!

Just curious if what you did changed the shock angle/throw at all? Doesn't seem like it's enough to matter, but I do recall when you order shocks/brackets from Atomic, Richard has you specify certain measurements pertaining to ride height/fender lip to ground relation.

Not sure if you have exhaust backpressure (EMAP) sensors on ugly truck or your 4x4 drag truck build, but it would be good to install this type of sensor on both so you can quickly and easily determine how restrictive the hot sides of your turbos are on these big engines.

Larry at raylar said he's making a stainless steel head gasket. I almost port matched the head gasket to the block/head water jacket holes. The holes are like 1/8" on the gasket and block most of the passage...can't understand why the jacket ports are so big but the gasket holes are so small? The seal goes around the whole area with tiny holes? Kinda thought Larry might have fixed that on his stainless ones. Me thinks that's the difference between the stock 340hp and stock 320hp numbers. Also with right love the 8.1l is around 650/700hp NA and runs a very safe 1000hp with 5-7lbs of boost on top of that.

Oh and im thinking a 9 second MORRVAIR would look great doing a recovery dragging the competition at the same time.😂

I have to say, I would have expected the radial slots in those brake disks to to trail outwards rather than inwards. Centrifugal force will already be trying to dispel water outwards, so why would you counter that force - unless you want water to stay on the disks and pads? I am looking at the outside tread on the tire right after you talk about the brake disk, which has a tread pattern dispelling water away from the tire. Then there are tractor tires (driven wheels) which have a very pronounced tread that pushes mud away from the tire. You brake disk instructions are not making sense to me. Do those disks have internal veins? If so, and I am sure they do, then they should absolutely be scooping air and pumping it into the cavity to cool the disks/rotors. Here you go. This short video says fit them with the slots trailing outwards. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oaOvgKxvZbClrLs
