Sorry, I forgot Lavos does boss rush mode before he murders you. If you want hints for upcoming fights, don't forget you can use Shelters at those sparkly saves for full HP/MP. I'm pretty sure after that the game put the Masamune on Frog after that cutscene, but it couldn't hurt to check, and it's worth considering the Hero's Medal for Frog's accessory, since it ups the Masamune's critical rate. You seem to be in a good position, though. I never DID check to see if there were, indeed, 100 monsters in the Fiendlord's castle. Excluding Slash, you've slain 11 so far.

I prefer to NOT use the Hero's medal with the Masamune I still had normal hits or 2x and 3x techs that use Frog do MORE damage with Power Scarfs equipped to him with the SIlver Stud equipped to Crono since against Magus I had a lv 25 to lv 30 party AND Crono's Luminare spell usable against Magus here but at 10 MP per Luminare only use it once against his Lightning 2 counter BUT it should do enough damage to end his elemental barrier shift change after 1 use. At that point Magus only attacks you with Dark Matter KEEP HP at at least 250 since it does that much damage.
