I think they definitely could be hallucinating/dreaming/being played with like dolls. that would explain the 0 fall damage, inconsistencies and lack of straw hat. If they’re being treated as dolls, I could imagine that person switching out their clothes, moving them from area to area, attempting to replicate their attacks, swapping the animals etc

One thing that the fanbase is finding weird is how... Certain things stand out. There are multiple small errors all over the place. Nami has a blinking sword, Luffy gains a sword that becomes an axe on his back. Sanji changes the leg hes attacking with, Luffy uses "Gear 4" even though its clearly Gear 3. Nami and Usopp fall from a *very* high place, quoted from Nami herself, and are completely fine. There are human sized skulls at the site of the fall. Luffy's Straw Hat is completely hidden, if even in there. Usopp's bag disappears for a second. The LEGOs broke like regular stone, and the castle, Bigstein Castle, is named for being a Big *Stone* Castle. Needless to say, this number of discrepancies is way higher than Oda has ever casually had in a manga release. To the point that it feels s bit purposeful. Could it be that we are still in a hallucination? Maybe under the grasp of a Devil Fruit User like that one baby stand user in JoJo? In addition, where is Chopper? Why is the only Straw Hat that doesn't drink not with the rest of the group? Is he in the Giant's ship? Is he in the Sunny? Is he not stuck in this possible dream with the others?

It seems like everyone under the age of 30 (or at least younger than robin) is not on the ship anymore (including the sunny). I wonder if they have been separated by age. If so, it might genuinely be a devil fruit, maybe in combination with the alcohol. Otherwise it would not make much sense for 2 separate groups having two separate shared experiences.

I think the crew is still on the ship because of the inconsistencies of some of the drawings, such as Luffy having a sword, but then somehow switched to an axe when he was sitting atop the giant monster the trio just defeated, to name a few. Try to re-read it and observe the art, and you'll notice some things are just off and lacking consistencies. So, I really think the drink they drank that was said to cause hallucinations really did happen, and the lego was probably part of the hallucinating, too.

Luffy denying food, the crew's weapons and gear changing slightly throughout the chapter, the strange lego buildings everywhere, THE FUCKING WORLD TREE YGGDRASIL BEING REVEALED so much is happening and it's quite literally the first chapter on Elbaf and i have absolutely zero clue what the hell is going on and where we're headed from here

Stuff is strong as hell too. So much so that you need to dilute it with 3-5 parts water poured over a sugar cube to 1 part absinthe. A ritualistic pain in the butt to prepare but it tastes like black licorice, so I enjoyed it.

This chapter grew on me just because it is such a special thing. There have been a good amount of people that just read this like another quick chapter without looking deeper into it and they miss out on information. But for those who pay close attention to the artwork and dissect the dialogue, there is clearly something going on here. And it’s not so bad to miss out on this information because when whatever is happening is revealed, it’ll be cool to look back on and see all these things. I’ve even heard there are nuances in Japanese that indicates something odd is happening. Whatever comes of this, I can’t imagine it isn’t cool and interesting. We’ve had weird stuff happening at the start of arcs that gets explained later, like Thriller Bark and Punk Hazard, but this seems like it’s in a league of its own. Honestly can’t wait for the next chapter.

I still know others hate it but i like the in-between filler sailing. This hype rules all fast pacing doesnt fit one piece but i get it. People just want it all to end. I need a volume each end fight or 2 chapters where they chill on the boat. Filler ep with them chilling and filling in brooke was peak. I guess live action will fix it for me. I know people hate live action and think anime is better but ignoring the hits live action takes and cringe...i think i thought live action emotional moments resonated better than anime. maybe cause i saw a human face

What's happening to the Straw Hats reminds me of what's currently happening in another manga called "DandaDan" (highly recommend, but the first chapter is hard to read). I'm not gonna go into too much details, but basically in the most recent arc, some of the characters were shrunk and teleport into a DnD tabletop type of game. The game is like another dimension full of crazy environments and our heroes have to confront different level and boss-monsters to, hopefully, get out.

Fun note about Usopps outfit, it appears to be a direct reference to Asterix and Obelix, a french comic about Gauls (I thought they were vikings based on the aesthetic of the comic but they are actually Gauls, which makes more sense for a french/belgium comic)

I think we are thinking about the wrong kind of hallucination. There is a very cool story in Norse mythology about Thor, Loki and two other guys arriving to a mysterious castle where they must complete a number of challenges (eating meat, drinking alcohol and speed running, which sounds VERY appropirate for Luffy, Zoro and Sanji). There is even a huge cat involved in the shenanigans, which is obviously referenced in the new chapter! The twist in the story is that none of them are able to complete their individual challenges because the owner of the castle tricks them so see their competitors are something different that what they really are (for example, in the meat eating challenge, they think they are competing against a regular dude, but they are competing against FIRE ITSELF which obviously consumes things faster and without limit so they can never win). Long story short, I think all of this could be happening, but someone is messing with their perception so they keep tripping balls, hence the cat turning into a lion, etc.

Honestly, I don't think the crew being taken away is a hallucinations because then it wouldn't make sense for Oda to write the outsiders' point of view and show the crew's actions affect reality and people they don't know. The giants on the ship still found them gone and the residents of the village are shown to feel the ground shake and worry, so it can't be something Nami dreamt up when she has no awareness of them. I have no idea what actually happened but someone must have intervened since the Sunny is nowhere to be found and maybe they can create illusions or manipulate reality in a specific space each time. But the animals getting beaten has to be true...idk idk

And where’s Chopper‽ There are so many inconsistencies with this chapter that I would chalk this up to being amateurish if it was any other mangaka. I would think it was a mistake if it was one or two mistakes. But this is consistently every main character, over the whole chapter. This is Oda. 95% of what he does is on purpose.

This elbaf seems to be a virtual world / rpg world game like( by Loki devil fruit ?) the giants in the beginning are NPC. Also, in 1126, some one says « wake up nami » this is similar to the fairy in The legend of Zelda when you start a Zelda game… The weapons can change like in video games ?? Still funny how one piece fans cry peak over one chapter where on paper all that happens is intro to a new location and running and the usual hero save and some misleads...but other series have tons of stuff, even the final fight with a villian (my hero acadamia, naruto, bleach, jjk, etc.) and people are crying how bored they are and it's trash...shows that it's not about the endgame it's the adventure. One piece like mario games will never be disliked cause people just enjoy them even if nothing is going on and they repeat stuff (lets face it one piece is a bit formulaic)

I hope that this arc can be the last proper adventure for the strawhats before everything culminates in the final war. The original crew (besides Chopper, hopefully he's just somewhere lost 😭) being the only ones here... and the alabasta panel call-back makes me believe Vivi reunion will finally happen! Shanks and Saul reunions will be amazing as well. Egghead has been fantastic, but we have to say goodbye-- so excited for Elbaf!!

Someone on reddit pointed out some odd characterization: - Zoro directing them to find the ship. - Sanji wanted to go after bugs despite being afraid of them. I think Loki has created a pocket dimension /illusory Elbaf like in Wandavision or the Truman Show, where everything is the way he wants it and he can role-play being the sun god so the people in his illusion worship him, all being none-the-wiser. One of the giants said they need to 'report the situation to the sun god', implying they have a sun god imposter in their midst.

Loki IS the God of Mischief, so this really fun, chaotic start to the Elbaf Arc is fitting. I like to think that this royal cat that ate the surprisingly long awaited *Cat-Cat Fruit, Model: Lion* is a royal pet, and that the Straw Hats and the hedgehog were placed in its little cat house palace as toys, and/or snacks. 🤣

I agree the inconsistency may be intentional to reveal Luffy has been kidnapped and what we are seeing is possibly a fake Luffy and the the biggest clue would be his straw hat is replaced which isn't the first time Oda dropped a clue involving the straw hat. (Remember when Robin first appeared and put on Luffy's hat as a form of foreshadowing her joining the crew later down the line?)...I think Oda is going to reveal that Luffy is in trouble and the crew will have to save Luffy

I'll post here what I posted on another video: There are errors all over this chapter and they aren't just with Luffy's missing hat or constantly-changing axe/sword. Nami has a TON of errors in her outfit. Her tattoo disappears multiple times, her belt buckle changes from flower to square, back to flower, her bracelets swap arms, her sword comes and goes. Then she wakes up from the quite high fall without any injuries. Add in that we KNOW Chopper is missing with this lot but hasn't turned up - he's the only one Nami didn't call for when she was in danger. It was only after she called for Usopp again that he suddenly appeared (she called for him, thought she heard his voice, called for him again and he's suddenly there). Where's Chopper? Nami doesn't see him as a protector so she never calls for him... and thus he doesn't appear. There's also character weirdness - Sanji calls Nami with -san instead of swan or chan, and also calls her his beloved (I mean, he can be simp but it's a bit too simp) and he doesn't focus on Usopp (who is hurt) at all (which is fucking weird because Sanji is always kind to Usopp) and his immediate thought after Nami is safe is 'food supply'. That... isn't like Sanji. It's like his character has become one dimensional. Almost like a dumb fan went - women + food = Sanji. The same with Zoro and Luffy - not only is Luffy getting his attack names wrong (because Nami doesn't understand how he names his attacks), but his immediate thought isn't worry over injured Usopp, but more food, and Zoro is all serious worry about crew only. They're almost TOO blatantly 'in character' and one-dimensional. Also, Usopp, who we know is tricksy and capable of thinking on his feet, doesn't even TRY to do anything while they're running away... This is what I think is happening - Nami is being played with by someone who has hallucination or dream powers. Her and others' details shifting around clue into this. She's not seeing her actual crewmates, but illusions of how she perceives them. Whoever is running the illusions has brought out her view of them to life and is using their images like puppets to play with her. The clue here is the way they're acting. Nami sees Usopp as being her equal, trouble buddy. He's going to be in danger with her and she sees him as below her level of competency. The fact he's not fighting back is because she's the hero between them (in her view) and because she doesn't understand how his attacks work (so it doesn't provide the enemy anything to work off - swords, kicks and punches are easy enough to riff off, but Usopp's plants? not so much) and so this Usopp falls over, gets hurt, but survives because Usopp always survives, after all, he's Usopp! Zoro, to her, is a serious protector of the crew who worries. Luffy is eternally hungry with no impulse control. Sanji is in love with her and feeds the crew. Sanji is the real big clue here though - because to NAMI he's focussed on her all the time, but we know that's not always the case - he cares for Nami and her safety above others, yes, but he's also very protective of Usopp... who he leaves injured on the ground without a mention. Someone is playing with Nami, using how she views her crew as a way to lull her into a sense of security. We see a shadow hide behind a corner in one of the panels where Nami is trying to figure out what's going on. For what reason? IDK. My first thought is how over-the-top Sanji is (my beloved!) in his care of her might indicate him being Loki, slotting himself in the most heroic and romantic (he thinks) role among her crewmates to make her fall for him. Little does he know he's picked the completely wrong person for that job.

At first I thought the whole issue with the continuity errors was just an issue on Oda's end to be fixed in the volume releases. Now that the community keeps noticing more and more, I'm pretty sure there's some trickery afoot.

I think it would be more Utgard-Loki instead of Loki Laufeyson, since this illusion pranking is much to his alley than THE loki, but we'll know soon i hope. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loki The only mention of Illusion in that wiki is with regards to Utgard-Loki. Loki Loki iirc, is more into transfiguration and shapeshifting, he turns himself into a fish, into a horse, into a woman (as Thor's Bridesmaid). But not a lot of illusion magic. However, in Utgard-Loki's only appearances, all he does is prank people and cast illusions.

When nami starts falling down we get a strange black screen and then we see she somehow landed without taking any dmg. Meanwhile around her we see 2 dead bodies, these could be Ussop and her. What I think that might be happening is that Loki has a video game DF, and they just respawned after dying. And all the items appearing and disappearing is just them having a place to store items like in a video game, which doesn't show up on the character. My main reason for thinking this is that this would be perfect to fulfil his dream. He wants to die like a brave warrior, but he can't die this arc. But if this is a video game he can die as many times as he wants, and him maybe being the first person ever to defeat this game could lead him to showing the giants how brave he is. What if he dies 1000 times to defeat the game?
