This is a great scene. This has actually happened in the Chicago Police department when minorities go undercover. Vice units would have attractive female officers dressed as prostitutes and snag a intoxicated off-duty officer. Of course, they were let go.

In this fictional show the WHITE police officers were harassing these BLACK men for no other reason than their own prejudices. They did nothing wrong and the police had no actual reason to attempt to detain them. The police officer initially on the passenger side of the car actually broke the law because when the passenger driver asked why they were being detained he told him that he didn't get to know.

Unfortunately, don't think Voight saw this coming. What he could've done was to request dispatch to get that specific unit to another call, so the case could go smoothly. But, if he did that, things might go odd. If he intervened, the case would be thrown out the window. Atwater tried to diffuse the situation to the best of his ability without getting his cover blown. If he blew his cover, the case is burned and will have to start the case from scratch and it isn't easy redoing it. At least, it leads to another story for Atwater.

That happens so often in the US (and the cops get off without even a reprimand) that it doesn't matter. What *matters* (and will probably cost the cop his career) is that he shot one of Intelligence's CIs and put his hands on an undercover officer after failing to follow procedure in front of him. I expect a lot of horse trading whilst his shift supervisor tries to bargain Voight out of bringing a formal charge of misconduct against his boy.

Actually, the bodycam later showed that he reached for Doyle's gun. You reach for a cop's gun and you WILL get shot. It was still a bad stop. and they should have never been in that situation to begin with. But once again, you reach for a cop's gun and you WILL get shot.

It happens again later in a similar situation. He’s interrogating/torturing a guy who said the police pulled guns and were acting aggressively unprovoked, but as soon as Atwater tells him he’s telling the truth, he starts being a lot more cautious and hands off.

Brekdon That would’ve been so cool!! especially..being a homeless person, a jogger that got lost,🏃♀️a hooker that was attack & being followed by a mob, or pretending to be a blind person..with a dog.
