There are many castles and cathedrals left dormant or dilapidated from Robert the Bruce, the Jacobite rebellion and the subsequent two world wars. Our family lived in Knightswood just prior to the war and the daughter of the family that lived upstairs from us, worked in Templeton's rug factory at Anniesland Cross. After we all survived the bombing, the factory still stood and resumed full production in due time. Twenty years later, I emigrated to the USA, but my parents still lived in Glasgow until their deaths many years later. I was home to bury them each time one passed. Glasgow has transformed itself over the years from an imdustrial center to a place of culture and beauty. Perhaps someday I'll get back again, but at 87 that probability diminishes each year. I love to see the restoration and transformation of buildings of significance and pray that this restoration is complete in due time. God bless your efforts. Don C.

I love Scottland. My dad was British, and my mum is Australian, but every time I visit Scotland, I feel a pull to the country, a sense of peace, and a feeling of home. The last time I was there in 2023, I saw so many castles that needed restoration. Unfortunately, it's not something that I will ever be able to afford to do, but I'm so happy to see that you are so lucky to be able to save some of its history.

A massive well done to you all for the work that you are doing. My girlfriend ( now wife) and I used to go to Knockderry for a quiet drink in 1978. It was then a hotel and run by a wonderfully eccentric old lady called Francie. She was a gem. I’m 69 years old now but have very fond memories of visiting Knockderry. I wish you all the best. PS- the castle was also used for a BBC , TV film production called - ‘ Take Three Girls’ in the 1970’s.

It was listed for 1.25 Million Pounds but sold for 1.15 Million at the end. You might think that's a bargain for such a gorgeous castle and property but the renovations will bancrupt you very very quickly if you are not extremely careful. And there is no way you can accurately plan such a project. You will find rot, damage, problems around every corner - which was not previously anticipated or budgeted. I wish them all the luck and fortune in the world to save the castle, but it wont be an easy road.

This suddenly popped up on my suggested viewing. I was fascinated. Way back (around 60 years ago) I stayed in Knockderry Castle. This was under the auspices of the Countrywide Holidays Association (CHA) who presumably rented it. It was a wonderful place. My friends and I slept downstairs in a bedroom that had probably once been part of the kitchen, as there was a "dumb waiter" - a small lift/elevator made to carry food from the kitchen to a higher floor. I also remember the music room and there was a small minstrels' gallery but I don't remember exactly where. I've subscribed and look forward to seeing more of your videos.
