This was my favorite movie for a long time, I dont know how I didn't notice it for such a long time but I am bisexual and this movie is clearly what should have opened my eyes, the scene with Akasha and Lestat in the rose petal bath should have been enough, but then I again I was just born when this movie came out. XD Also RIP to the actress who played Akasha, she died shortly after they finished filming before the movie came out.

I remember at the time the film sort of bombed, aside from lots of hype around Aaliyah's recent death. I know, for me, as a MASSIVE Anne Rice book fan at the time, I was originally disappointed that they'd basically crammed both 'The Vampire Lestat' and 'Queen of the Damned' into one film and just glossed over so many characters. BUT, I've since come around on the film and have a soft spot for it outside of relating it to the books. I usually just tell people to ignore the book-stuff when watching it and just enjoy it on it's own. That seems to work best for me. 😀 P.S. I still always forget how freaking hot Paul McGann looks in this film, but that's the Doctor Who fangirl in me speaking.

Good to know I’m not the only one xD “I hate how this makes me feel” hahaha
@tubefan912 жыл бұрын
Aaliyah did finish the movie. It was fully completed, she just needed her lines re-dubbed, which her brother Rashad did for her. This actually ended up giving her voice a more demon like and otherworldly vibe with their voices intertwined.
@swacfan1005 ай бұрын
No disrespect to the guy who played Lestat. But Aaliyah CARRIED this movie, her performance was amazing. It just saddens me that this was her last role. She was just coming into herself as a performer. Akasha was frightening, arrogant, and yes sexy. Aaliyah embodied that in this performance. RIP Babygirl Aaliyah ❤

I think most of the hate for this movie comes from Ann Rice purists that have read the books and rage over the movie not being exactly the same, and also the type of people that jump on the hate bandwagon so they can feel artistically superior and intellectual. In reality it was an entertaining movie with a great soundtrack.
@ashscott60682 жыл бұрын
This is a terrible movie, and we all know it. But there's still something about it. It's just so raunchy. And Jonathan Davies' vocals are so perfect for it. They're just so strange and inhuman sounding. Plus the songs are actually GOOD! As long as you can get over the books, this is a really fun movie.

I do believe that Aaliyah was a much better singer than an actress I'm sorry if I'm sounding like I'm spitting on her grave but Queen of the Damned was an absolute mess in my opinion. Thank goodness she will be remembered for her singing and her music. I had never seen it when it came out after she passed away and I was I believe a sophomore in high school and I got it just about a month or two ago I ordered it off of Amazon thinking okay I'm going to get it out of respect for Aaliyah this was her last movie she really wanted to spread her wings and become an actress and I sat through it with my husband and both of us were just like no. One of my big things was the main character of Lestat trying to look like he's really singing when in fact he's lip-syncing to Jonathan Davis of Korn. Now I'm not the biggest fan of Korn to begin with that's more my husband genre of music. If you really watch the one scene where he's singing to a song that Jonathan Davis recorded you can absolutely tell his lips just do not match up to the scene with Jonathan Davis did
