Broom boy? that's just some symbolism. The movie felt so final... That's not how you do it. Than JJ comes and retcons even the little episode 8 left??? These directors and producers are idiots!! But honestly, I put the least of blame on Rian Johnson, he was given free reign and probably told to leave it completely open for the next director.... For example: This group has basically only watched the new trilogy and they justify themselves for being able to say that Force Awakens was A New Hope clone and they get off on saying that without even having seen all the other (the originals as well) movies. Then The Last Jedi came out and they bashed on it and insulted the true fans by saying that it was too original, new and creative. The moment they say something like ''this is the best movie ever made'', then your argument would hold up, but to say they're wrong simply for enjoying something? That has nothing to do with everyone getting a trophy. That has to do with the fact that tastes differ and something you might like, another might not and vice versa, but that doesn't immediately mean it's wrong to enjoy something? With this final film, it’s safe to say that this whole trilogy is pointless. As bad as the prequels are, they at the very least had good ideas and created interesting and lasting elements that are still loved today. The Rise of Skywalker just sounds like lazy pandering that is designed to course correct from The Last Jedi. The Force Awakens was all retread and setup. The Last Jedi ignored that setup and didn’t move the plot at all while pretending to be new. This means that The Rise of Skywalker had to create, build, and conclude a trilogy’s worth of story in one film. That’s a tall order. This is probably why so many people said that this was filled with exposition and felt crammed. The most important thing this new trilogy did was kill off Han, Luke, and Leia, which sucks since those three characters added little to nothing to the story. And I hate that they are marketing this as a conclusion to a nine film saga. It’s not. It’s the conclusion to this current trilogy that they decided to pretend is a nine film story in order to lazily make this trilogy feel more important. Star Wars has so much potential, and this is what they did with it. Such a waste.

I agree. As furious as people are right now... because its the heat of the moment and it's new and all. 9 really is the best of the three. 9 might be the only one that actually felt like Star Wars. 7 was an ok start, but they played it safe, and the "bigger-badder" Death Star, was not the way to go, lol... not when the originals had already done it twice. 8 might as well have not even been a Star Wars movie at all. Felt like some totally different franchise... a Marvel movie, or Battlestar Galactica... A grizzly old hermit who tried to kill his relative for no logical reason, barely trains this girl with no name who's good at everything right away... meanwhile something-something casinos and jail and horses and slave children and an Asian girl we just met kissing her black bumbling sidekick we also just recently met, meanwhile a purple-haired person we also just met saves the day with some maneuver that basically renders every space fight before and after it meaningless... The Granny who leads the army gets blown up, but surprise, she has superpowers now for some reason. Lightsabers don't matter, Snoke doesn't matter, Rey and her mysteries don't matter, Star Wars in general, and the toys sales too, none of it matters... That's Ep. 8 in a nutshell, lol Then we get to 9... which has to explain away all the bad choices made in 8, then start from scratch, basically picking up where 7 left off... suddenly things matter again now, Lightsabers and character interactions... but plotwise there's so much going, a lot of it seemingly out of nowhere, and it's so all over the place that it's difficult to get back on this horse that so many of us have fallen so hard off of.

But I'm genuinely wanna know other peoples civil opinions. I'm ok with ppl not liking this movie let's just RISE above all the name calling and having to choose sides.

Jaleel Brown That’s so interesting. Kylo is my favorite character in this new trilogy so if they gave him more stuff to do that’s great. Also hearing good lightsaber fights is really all I want, and also the majority of the fans. Just look at what saved the prequels ( Maul/Qui Gon fight, etc ). The force and lightsaber fights are the heart and soul of Star Wars, so those hearing those two things does make me a little hopeful. I haven’t heard too much of people liking this more than TLJ. From what I am hearing is that JJ tried to heal the damage too much that it was too late , maybe wrongly done. I would have to see it to truly see if anything great could have come following TLJ. I just find it odd that TLJ has a high RT score and was just as divisive , or it seems Iike it, with ROS, with a low score. Like I said I’m pretty disappointed in this new weapon , but, even though the story might not be the best ( just like FA ) just give me a good lightsaber fight and I’ll be happy. That’s the lowest standard I would have for a Star Wars movie , which obviously didn’t even happen for me in TLJ. So yeah, maybe like you , it’ll like ROS much more

I don't agree that it was paint by numbers. I was surprised by a lot of elements. However, I wasn't looking for those elements. To me, TFA was SO much more a copy of A New Hope. My problem with this sequel trilogy is there no outline & it just feels like they had no idea where to take this story. If your making a trilogy, you should have at least have an idea where you want your characters to go & the overall story you want to tell. Also if your going to have 3 different directors for the 3 movies you should at least have a discussion & decide where you want to take the story because if you don’t it just feels like a tonal mess. There was so much potential that TFA set up, Who Is Snoke?, Why did Ben Solo turn to the darkside?, Who are Rey’s parents? They seemed to just go with the least interesting possible options instead of going with something that actually brings depth to the story. That being said I am going to go into the movie with an open mind & wanting to love it, like I do with every movie. Everything I’ve heard about it has me worried, but I will always give a movie a chance.

29:49 is literally what I’ve been saying, we all love Star Wars but y’all ain’t going to question Disney now after they f*cked up a trilogy with not creating a whole story from beginning to end... we as fans are now divided as ever because behind the scenes Disney didn’t know what to do with Star Wars. And i think we all lose out because if you really think about it, if they sat down and really thought about a clear story arc, none of this division would have happened i feel. It really is a shame and for being a lover of Star Wars and the lore and story telling, Disney really cut us short on that one and that’s what sucks the most.

Of course there was no plan, that's because Rian Johnson threw it out the window. He killed snoke who was clearly going to be the big bad for the entire trilogy (and probably plagueis), meaning in 2-3 months JJ had to completely rewrite this one to fix his clusterfuck and somehow pull out a new big bad super evil force. I mean the first hour of this movie wasn't ep 9 but ep 8.5 where it was course correcting and setting up what TLJ should have set up, thus leaving only 90 mins for ep 9. All this is Rian Johnsons fault.

@dontpanic18124 жыл бұрын
That is true. I now look at Rey like I do many other people I know who are just good at nearly everything they do. Sagittarians are notorious for this. Since they're naturally good at so many things, often their greatest trials lay in picking something to focus on, avoiding boredom, getting better at things they're already good at, figuring out things they have difficulty understanding and finding their place in the world-- things of which most of us can relate. I helps to see her as a natural, rather than a Mary Sue. We all have known some. We can determine she's a rarity who is more sensitive to the impressions of the force, more intimately connected to it than most force sensitive workers are, that she is capable of listening to it and following its dictates more easily. Once we think of her like that, her lack of training, though not excused, is well compensated by necessity, her openness and her will. Remember how she tapped into the dark side so easily, scaring the shit out of Luke? Remember how flabbergasted she's been after doing something she had no idea she could do. Rather charismatic and endearing, if you ask me. Sagittarians are usually arrogant in those types of situations and she's been anything but. Hope this helps you out. I know it's the biggest beef fans have with her. Thinking of her in this fashion brings us closer to seeing her like Luke-- a gangly, inexperienced, eager do-gooder, bent on amounting to something and having an adventure along the way. Traits she shares combined with traits he didn't have. Training is normally necessary. But, maybe Rey isn't all that normal. Good thought, Papa. Hope you feel the same 'bout mine. Cheers.
