The way I look at it, Tess was strong AF all the way to the end. As noted by the chart in Episode 1, being bitten closer to the head means you turn faster. The fungus was already gaining control of her, thus the twitching in her hands. She was nearly frozen, not by fear, but by the fungus, trying to welcome her to the hivemind. Even with the direct connection, she was able to resist and light that place up.

The “kiss” was basically to introduce her to the fungus even though she was already infected. The stalker noticed this and walked up to “kiss” (transfer) the fungus to her quicker. They changed how Tess died in the show, she still gets infected in the game but she goes out a different way.

Anytime in this show where you question why Joel instinctively does stuff you wouldn’t(testing the dry fungus at the museum entrance with his gun, or knowing instantly what was attacking them and what to do)you have to remember that he’s been successfully surviving in this world for 20 years already. She was infected. It sensed that and wanted to make her part of its connected pod. That’s what the kiss was for.

those infected in the museum are called "Clickers." They can't seen but they can hear. They use *echolocation(like a bat). To do this they make a clicking noise. which is why they are called a "clickers." *for example: when Ellie changed her breathing and made that first sound, it altered the clicking that the clicker made and instead of the clicking coming back telling the clicker that nothing was in the room, Ellie's noise went to the clicker, telling it she was in the room and where she was.

Loved your reaction 👍🏽 The infection was intially spread by food (flour and more) before bites and stuff so bombing could slow the spread but never stop it. There are different stages to being infected, the ones we saw in episode 1 are runners (stage one). The one who kisses Tess is a stalker (stage two). The ones in the museum are clickers (stage three). There are more stages as well. Also humans are the only ones who are infected (at least in the game)

To answer your question about the games near the end, there are long stretches of the game that are just combat or stealth. There are also some quieter moments where you loot, explore, and enjoy the scenery. The show (wisely) cuts those parts down and replaces it with characters and story, because that works better for film.

In the Last of Us you gotta be in the moment. Anyone can get bitten or die any moment, but the moments you get with them are always worth it. The writing is heartbreaking but also beautiful. It's a hell of a ride but definately woth it!

I promise you that this game isn't just one long trauma marathon lmao. This is a very emotional journey but its not without its heartwarming character moments as well. It is a challenge to travel in that world and that also makes for interesting scenarios.

We heard about the civil unrest in Jakarta on the radio while the Millers ate breakfast, so we know that the government did not listen to the professor. They tried a more humane way to handle the situation and failed miserably. Even if they had done what the professor said, it wouldn't have changed much. Nana Adler is proof of that. Indonesia is has the worlds largest flour and grain mill, and judging from the global outbreak their products were already on store shelves and in homes the world over. It was already too late to do anything about what was going to happen. 6:16 Ellie's placement was deliberate. "When you're lost in the darkness look for the light." 6:42 She's 14...the same age Sarah was when she died ='( To make matters worse, she's quick witted and smart...like Sarah. Joel doesn't want to be in this situation. 11:10 probably not. Cordyceps couldn't infect all insects, just a couple. In this future, they evolved to be able to infect humans, so other mammals are likely okay...I'm not sure about primates, though... 12:47 Damn! She likes knives too! Sarah often played with Joel's knife ='( Oh, Riley is very important, and was shown in the teaser for this series, so you'll learn soon enough. 13:44 How long an infected lives likely depends on the size of their body. Obese people would be a treasure trove for cordyceps since they're feeding on the floods in the hosts body. Tess is a woman of her word, and she wanted to finish what she set out to do, and you'd think she also hoped to have time to tell Joel in private after the job was done. She was bit on her shoulder which has a 2 to 8 hour full infection time table. 24:31 Muscle spasms. And she's got them bad. The cordyceps in her are nearly done walling off her brain, making her lose coordination along with her motor skills. She has mere minutes left ='( 25:11 Mycelial connection at work! 26:30 I don't think it's the lighter, it's Tess. Her motor skills are real bad and her coordination is rapidly diminishing, and to add to that she's afraid. It's taking everything she has to keep flicking that lighter. Her cordyceps have other plans, which you're about to see real soon ='( 26:52 see how bad her hand was? That took a lot on concentration. Had she tried to flee, she wouldn't have gotten lighter to work, but her the cordyceps wasn't letting her move anyway--they wanted this union. They are all connected, remember? 27:19 it looks like a kiss to us, but that's how they inseminate people, remember? The infected that came up to Tess is in his second phase, he's a human cordyceps hybrid; the cordyceps have already started to grow over its host. This is a rough story ladies, but a good one. Get your towels or tissues ready. The adventure begins in earnest now. Another fine reaction =)

i wasn't even a gamer-- at all (maybe snake but that's it; top tier lol)-- albeit, i became consumed with this gaming world ... was dog sitting for a weekend in the country, bored - no internet - seen all the dvds/movies they had available - so, my only other option was video games: the last of us part 1 was all i had to pass the time. let's just say after that weekend, i bought a console and TLOU part 1 AND 2. still to this day = the best entertainment i've ever experienced (not just games, but movies music etc) and the tv adaptation was true to the game which THANK FuQ. no need to stray from the storyline with these games. if they did, it would have caused a riot. ... just my opinion - great reactions thus far! decided to rewatch and glad i found your channel. alas, THANK YOU for giving Tess love. she was one of my favorites. and a lot of the reactions i've watched when this show first came out- INSANE LACK of appreciation for tess. SMH so

The sad part for me besides Tess's death is that that infected, thinking that he must still have some human emotions, because the way he expressed it was through a kiss which was very much human expression. To think that somebody is still there is terrifying to me worse than the other things You were attached to Sarah last episode, now Tess, what's next ? 😁

The spore infection in the game doesn’t work in a tv show. Otherwise you have to have the actors/characters in respirators 100% of the time. There had to a demonstration of how the infected pass the fungi along.
