6:47 this is something I think a lot about since becoming ARMY during ch2 (right after you found them), especially given their already dense musical history. But the conclusion I always come to is this: art is always a two-sided experience. Ppl can say "oh I wish I was a fan earlier" or "I wish I wasn't a ch2 army" but that disregards 1) the fact that as listeners, our tastes naturally change, and 2) the experience of "finding" them for the first time, no matter the era. I've heard a lot of BTS' title songs since 2016, and I've liked most of them, but it was never enough to make me a regular listener, never got me to look deeper. But 2023 for some reason was just the year, and I sunk in fast, they're my all time favorites. Getting to know them in ch2 SPECIFICALLY makes me appreciate everything they've gone through even more. Most importantly (imo), they ALWAYS talk about their ambitions to stay a team long term, their goals for longevity as artists. How cool is it to be a NEW FAN as they're at this new epic beginning?? I'll never feel as intensely as I do now, but that in itself is a special feeling I want to cherish for however long it lasts.

FACE is such a masterpiece. It's a short album but t has a lop of deepness in every aspect! It would be coo if you watch 'Jimin's production Diary' a documentary that shows the production journey of face and Jimin's feelings. I honestly loved Face right away and I thought the lyrics were honest and took of course in consideration the fact he and Namjoon were on the credits. But damn.. after watching that documental my perception of FACE change in some way bc I got to appreciate that there was more deepness that it seems. And I also got to see how much Jimin was involve in the process of making each song. It's not that i didn't think he couldn't, but he did A LOT and made me respect and love him even more as an artists and as a person. His creativeness and talent creating melodies on the spot impressed me so much! 🙌💜

the people that say there is a “before” and “after” in bts’ discography are the people that didn’t care enough to actually listen to everything theyve released, including from the era they say they want to go back to and their current sound. theyre not army, and they don’t actually like bts because if they did they would already know there is so much more depth to bts’ sound than what they think it was before 🤷‍♀️ its a situation of “tell me you don’t know what you’re talking about without telling me you don’t know what you’re talking about” LOL ps. 27:06 it does! i never heard this analogy before (the star burning out/eventually dying) it makes so much sense in this scenario. i do understand wanting more music from an artistic you already like, and i’ve experienced “disappointments” in the past with artists i loved changing their sound (tho nowadays i just appreciate the music for what it is, regardless of my expectations), but tbh it’s crazy to apply the same logic to bts when they release way more music (in such short periods of time) than western artists do, and their “signature sound” is literally a bunch of sounds already 😭

yesss i loved your kendrick reference because with all of his newer projects people are like “i miss his old sound” and i feel like if you followed his growth fr and gave it a chance u would recognize it’s still old kendrick just at a different place in his life and artistic journey than he was when he wrote good kid mad city or to pimp a butterfly. bts change and grow too but it doesn’t mean they’re not the same people who wrote about class exploitation as teenagers and those ideas carry through to their music to this day in different forms that people don’t care to recognize because they’ve had a few pop hits i guess 😭

It's so true that people will complain if the songs are too similar or if the sound change. it's just impossible to make everyone happy so when artists choose to do whatever they like it's better. If an artists has done many songs or albums with similar sounds and then suddenly change that sound that became so representative of them and then they barely comeback to that sound, then I understand the "I miss their old sound". But, if that changed just happened in a a short time is like come on! people change and doing the same thing over and over again can be tiring even for the artist. If you say "I miss the old sound" or "they fell off" just bc you didn't liked the new release is like... bro at least wait for the other releases to know that lmao or like tribe Loui said, give then time to cook. 😂 Change is inevitable. Anyways, I find really funny the fact BTS receives this type of comments when they have been in constant change since literally debut bc BTS doesn't have just a sound that represents them or that is characteristic of them lol. Probably the people who said that just focus in certain types of songs and ignore the rest. They evolve so much and they keep including old elements in new releases sometimes as well, so the "I miss the old BTS" doesn't make sense. Saying that you wish they do more x genre or songs with similar vibes to x song is different! It's so stupid. I think why your comment of set me free pt 2 threw people off then was that you doubted his singing ability just because of that autotune. And that time Jimin was receiving a lot unnecessary hate. Like why would anyone use that extreme autotune to improve your singing, when you could hide it better. It was so obviously artistic choice and it was even rap part and I tought it was pretty common in rapscene.
