What makes Oasis special is the pure genius of Noel Gallagher´s songwriting. The amount of well-written tracks on those first two albums is beyond anything a songwriter could ever dream of. The focus doesn't necessarily lay on the instrumentation with Oasis, but more on the pure melody of the song itself. To assume that Liam is the only relevant member seems a bit naive when you literally have one of the most highly praised songwriters of all time. Id recommend doing "Dont Look Back In Anger" next.

Look I love Noel, seen him as recently as June but the truth is without Liam nobody heard any of these songs.
@TicketTooooRide Жыл бұрын
@@jeemywilsonOf course but to say that Liam is the only reason for the bands success is pretty ludicrous
@jeemywilson Жыл бұрын
@@TicketTooooRide I know what you mean but it’s still accurate. Liam would have made it singing any songs. I don’t think Noel would have, people forget Noel was late 20s roadie with a catalogue of songs nobody had heard until Liam started singing them. Both great but Liam is the reason we have heard all these songs.
@bucky7162 Жыл бұрын
Liam could have made it without Noel, The Rain weren't great but they were far from shit before Noel joined. Noel on the other hand would have been lost at sea without Liam in the beginning! And this is coming from a massive Noel fan. Noel was the genius in Oasis without a doubt but it was and always will be Liams band. Also a lot of Noels songs were literally stolen verbatim, right down to the melody and lyrics. Go look up the real peoples songs "feel the pain" and listen to the chorus. He also stole Rockin' Chair from the real people and another few tunes.
@TicketTooooRide Жыл бұрын
@@bucky7162 None of them would have made it without each other. The Rain was below average at best. They wouldn’t have made it past the Boardwalk. A lot of Liam’s vocal development came as a result of the improved songwriting (Noel said this himself). If you’ve read the Supersonic book you get a sense of how much Noel carried the band. While the others didn’t give a shit, he kind off held it all together. Liam would never be disciplined enough to run the band himself. If Noel never joined Oasis he wouldn’t have been as driven with his songwriting. Joining the band gave him the motivation he needed, but without Liam singing his songs they obviously wouldn’t be as good. So both really needed each other. As for Noel borrowing stuff, yes that’s true but the biggest hits Wonderwall, Don’t Look Back In Anger, Champagne Supernova, Slide Away, Rock N Roll Star have nothing stolen melody wise. And even the things he borrowed, he made it his own and improved it tremendously. It’s not like he stole full finished songs, he just took little bits and put them in.

Noel Gallagher also sings some of the songs. Please react to 'Don't Look Back In Anger,' which is one of their all time classics, which Noel sings. Noel wrote 90% of the songs, so for me Oasis was not just about Liam. Thanks for doing more Oasis.

Give them a chance, I’ve been an oasis fan for as long as I can remember. Seen them 3 times, saw Noel and high flying birds twice and Liam with Richard Ashcroft play. Check out some live acoustic stuff with Noel. Another band I recommend is the stereophonics, the lead singer Kelly Jones has an amazing voice

Noel does some really nice guitar work on some of the songs and his songwriting is what makes Oasis. The drums are really good too but yes overall there's not much instrumentally.

Before digging into Oasis's music, I shared the same thought with the guy on the left. I didn't know why people loved Oasis as Wonderwall was the only song I heard from them, and it was just "okay" to me. Liam sure stood out when you first listened to the band, and I agree the sound of the instrument was not "exquisite" -- but the rawness of it made the band so attractive. That rawness made you feel related. Noel wrote compelling lyrics and composed catchy melodies. Combining Liam's vocals, Oasis made some of the best songs in history.

Liam is an amazing singer. Don't feel guilty for having your own opinion ty it's as valid as anybody else's opinion., In fact, if Liam heard you say the band was just him being amazing with 3 other people in the background, Liam's ego would LOVE that 🤣🤣 Listen to Noel singing the importance of being idle then you will think wow Noel is amazing too. P.s this is definitely not in my top 20 oasis songs either , my least favourite song on that album

Ty's opinion is spot on, the music is good, songs are good, Liam's twang is interesting at first but is tiresome after awhile. I loved Definitely Maybe in the 90s but never listen to it in decades(oh I'm old). Ofc the Michael Hutchence incident didn't help their longevity in my world.
