We recently got sky Q!

What do i think of Sky Q. This is a small basic video about that and whether you should get it yourself. There are pros and cons if your considering upgrading from sky HD / sky plus.

I got Sky Q earlier this year after renewing my contract after having having the previous Sky package. After several months of having Sky Q I have to say I am very happy and quite impressed.

a good thing to try is if your not bothered about being in contract all the time phone them up when they have good deals on and get it cheaper all the time, i had mine for 6 months then switched to stream but was rubbish went back to q after a week and they did a huge discount i got £38 off a month for everything on tv. like for eg sky sports is £30 but they did it for £16 for me

Having briefly tried sky Q I’m in no rush to ‘upgrade’ the UI appears to have gone backwards, when u change channel all you see is the channel name and number , not what’s on what’s coming up time date etc , the back button seems to take you all the way back rather than one step felt very clumsy navigating the menus compared to sky plus

i think tbh the sky+hd was better, i prefer Q as in u have spotify, netflix etc on it and the ui is clean, but i think the features on +hd were better. they might update probably maybe

I have been totally disappointed by Sky Q picture quality, it is dreadful, I bought a top of the line Sony OLED and Sky Q is just unable to put a high quality HDR 4K picture out, it’s so bad we end up watching everything in 1080P and have to rely on the TV’s built-in apps for high quality viewing.

@@chriskaye1997 maybe a crappy box i have a 85" samsung qled and the picture off the q box uhd is really clear and really good on this tv and on skysports UHD. same goes for UHD downloaded content

@@matthewella8280 HDR content is either too dull or washed out (grey), it doesn’t auto switch to HDR or if it does, it doesn’t switch off when you go back to SDR content. It’s so frustrating. Switch to built in apps on the TV and the content is glorious, particularly on services that have a calibrated mode, like Netflix. Sky F1 UHD is pretty worthless as very little of the race content is in UHD, mainly just the set pieces with the presenters talking to camera.

If they’re offering a good deal I’d definitely go for it. Just make sure the deal is right, as long as you play them right they can offer ridiculously low prices

All box's are now 4k uhd the only difference now between 1tb or 2tb is just the storage space but that's a negligible difference as people hardly record anything nowadays anyway

@@TOMLINBISH What's crap ? where do I start 🤔 there are so many changes for change sake I think, everything is much more complicated, which would be fine it it was an improvement but it isn't. Sky Q is cheaper, know I know why. Don't change Tom, or I guarantee you'll be disappointed, mate, stick with Sky+

Is it worth getting this if they phase out satellite dishes in 2023?

Even if sky decide to phase out installing dishes, the service will be available for at least 10 years give or take afterwards. There is no rush to get everyone to streaming technology. MPEG2 technology from the original sky digital platform from 1998 is still going in 2022, also you cannot convert everyone to internet iptv, and also what about rural areas that cannot stream internet tv at all. Grab it, if you want it, and even if they did stop your service, sky would say by bye to their own contract terms

@@Flexic3D you can have a dish on your flat no problem if it's your property. If it's not it's up to the landlord. Most landlords dont have an issue with sky dishes unless it's a sky rise or complicated flat building. Ask the owner if you can have one.

£58 been quoted for Sky Q, its pricey. I have V+ from Virgin Media, much better than Sky Q

There is nothing enhanced on SKY Q over SKY +, you only have 2 UHD HDR channels , SKY F1 and SKY Premiership, and you have to press the red button for UHD and it switches over, everything else is in HD & SDR not HDR.

ive had Q for a while and i know most of me mates who are in flat blocks can only have Sky+HD and they prefer that over Q

Most of the F1 content is not in UHD either, only the “set pieces” where they stand around talking to camera. Super disappointing and not worth the extra cost. Can’t get HDR to work either.

On sky +hd the uhd channels on tv guide but I have sky q there not on there
