The old adage is that the dog chooses you not that you choose the dog, and Lexi chose you from the moment that you arrived at that property. It was amazing to view her adoration of you. The way she just rolled over for her belly to be rubbed was her already trusting you. To view the video is to see how clearly that poor girl had been ignored and neglected. And they’re also the same people that create negative reputations for certain dog breeds. I can’t even own a pit bull here in Miami-Dade county because the sale, ownership, and breeding of them is banned. There’s even strict laws on owning dogs who are a pit bull mix. I couldn’t vote at the time, but most of family voted to repeal the ban when it came up for a referendum years ago. It failed, sadly. Either people didn’t vote on it, or there were more that were wrongly afraid of them.😔
@Emberchariot3 жыл бұрын
@@lunartears6761 yer it's the same here in Great Britain, you can own a pitbull but you can't walk it anywhere. They end up being the most rescued dog cause people don't realize what they are taking on. My dad owns a pitbull and she's so soft, but we can't take her to public places like where people are, we have to take her to country places where no one's about. So it's the same here, really pathetic banning a breed, it's the human never the dog.
@lunartears67613 жыл бұрын
@@Emberchariot that’s really stupid. That’s even more absurd than the law where I live. Walking helps dogs be calm and keep their sanity. How do they expect the dogs to be good if they don’t walk? I know that there are people who don’t walk their dogs, but to me, part of owning one IS walking them. I’m on miniature schnauzer #2 and those little lap dogs NEED to be walked or they’ll misbehave. My first one had behavioral issues die to being a stray, but walking greatly helped his anxiety. I can’t imagine what it’s like for a big dog. And honestly, often times, the ‘big scary guard dog’ is nowadays a gentle giant baby.

That was hilarious! When she was drinking out of the red bucket, I think I had time to bake a cake. I was watching this in my upstairs office and when all your dogs started barking, my own Rotty came bounding up the stairs to make sure everything was OK. Best dogs in the world!! Smart, huggable, loyal...and you definitely don't want them seriously mad at you. As I tell anyone that wants a Rottweiler, as strong as you think they are...multiply that by four and decide if that's something you can handle. Mine is a rescue and he herds cattle on our ranch, and has from day 1 with zero training. These dogs are legends.

The temperament, friendliness and calm of your new dog was stunning, particularly considering she had been neglected. Even more striking when she met not only one new dog, but three. Her calm and her raised tail all the time is not quite what one would expect. I would guess that she has a very strong psyche, and despite her neglect, also good confidence. Hope all goes well with them all. 👍🏼😊

I just happened to catch your Rotty Channel by accident and I was fascinated. The episode about bringing Lexi home for the first time was on. What a wonderful story. I am 71 years old and not easily impressed anymore but I was impressed with the caring, tenderness and patience you have for this breed of dog. I adopted a rescue, an American Staffordshire Bull Terrier and I agree with an earlier comment made by one of your followers. We don't choose them, They choose us, and Lexi sure did choose you. What a cutie! Never seen a Rottie with a smooth temperament like this before. The way she tried to just melt into you, brought me to tears. Her behavior tells it all. Makes me wonder, if she´s been treated so badly and surrendered because of her friendly nature. Unfortunately there are still too many people that want dogs like her and similar breeds to be mean and vicios; just to push up their own egos. They make me sick! You´ve done right getting her out. Yea, after watching the last couple videos of you guys and Lexi, you definitely should keep her for yourself. The love and trust she has in her eyes for you both is unmistakable.

As a trainer, owner of 7 German shepherds and avid animal lover it is great to see a person using all the correct skills with their new family member. Taking it one step at a time, building the trust and confidence of the adoptee. I will have to agree with other commenters that she chose you not the other way around. I admire how you kept talking to her and showing her you were there for her. You have got your work cut out for you but something tells me she will train up very well and will easily, if not after giving you a few strains, learn her life skills. Keep it up mate and I am sure you are aware a little boiled rice in her dog food will ease urine acidity in all dogs. She was one very thirsty girl.

I Love Rotties so much! My best friend went to sleep in 2013 after 14 years of being wonderful. I haven't had the heart to own another dog since, but when I do...it will be a Rottie!❤💯😍

Is the heart of the dog that you lost that you should worry about .I always believed that to honor the dog you lost that you have to save another one . Your pup will meet you in the after life and you can check to see if I'm right.

That's makes me so sad because my Shasa is 11 this year. It seems like yesterday she was an adorable puppy. Time goes by so fast.

She's a sweetheart. She actually allowed you to invade her personal space when you reached over her fence to pet her. So she's not territorial about her space. She will get along just fine with your other dogs. Happy Tails!

What an amazing dog Lexi is. I could hardy believe how placid she was when you first met her. Her interaction with the other three Rottys - and they with her - was pretty amazing too.
