They aren’t public bathrooms. They are cleaned etc by the building owners. Public toilets are cleaned and maintained by the city itself

I saw a bathroom that had toilet seat covers, was SUPER clean, had THREE hooks on the doors, trash can in every stall, only 5 stalls, 5 sinks, paper towels AND air dryers! Easily the BEST bathroom I have EVER seen!

I've traveled a lot and the most vile, disgusting, nastiest public restroom I have ALMOST used was in Union Station in Washington, D.C. Think 1,000 harried commuters from the furthest suburbs coming in to Washington every 15 minutes, all the bums sleeping in the station to escape the cold, a janitorial strike and a severe toilet paper shortage. 🤢🤢🤢

I'm a bathroom hunter myself. Even if you are overly casually dressed, just walk into a 5* hotel, tell a bellman in the lobby you are meeting your parents who are guests (yeah..sure..like they're gonna check) and simply ask where the restrooms are located. 5 star hotels have the best bathrooms on earth. Don't ask me about the amenities!! 😮

It's actually a pretty important & interesting issue. Literally everyones has private care needs yet its not easy in the city when you Need to go. A lot of businesses will Not let you use their toilet, even if you buy something & say youre having an emergency--have cystitis etc. Its bizarre you need to say "if you dont let me pee here, i Will pee myself in your store in front of your customers." People should have access to public restrooms just like they do to drinking water in businesses free of charge. i especially feel for those who are homeless, those who use wheelchairs, and transfolks...and men/adults with young children. And think the quality of bathroom is Far less important than numbers of Private Safe places to pee/poop/be sick/deal with menstruation/deal with children. And knowing where they are!!!

the cleanest bathroom is at BRYANT PARK. its cleaned all day. when you flush it automatically adds a new toilet cover. it smells good and theres always someone there for assistance.

The Wardolf Astoria! Techinally as a person that works at a hotel, hotel bathroom's are public we just don't want you hanging around afterwards if your not staying there. The ones at Wardolf have singular "stalls" like you have your own sink and all the details are in gold. Given I also walked through the back entrance...

Dover Street Market on Lexington Ave has fully private rooms (toilet, sink, etc) and the toilet is one of those authomatic japanese things with a built in bidet and bum dryer. Easily the best and most clean in NYC as it should be considering everything in the store is upwards of $500.
