A message to all the youngins today. Here's a guy who did it all, music, party, fame, drugs, and everything in between - and now, as an "older" man, says the kindness is the number one thing. There's no way of avoiding it. No matter what your life is, you will eventually need to wise up to being kind.

Horrible lonely with many around. Anthony was coming in as I was going out. It was as if I were immediately in L.A. surrounded by Love. This guy lit me up. I must have looked an idiot smiling so much and just said Thank you so much for your gift of music. He really grabbed me and hugged me. Like a brother would have done. He absolutely changed my energy completely. I changed that day. Kindness, Love and Energy. I wish he knew how much his Kindness affected and effected me! Wow! Charles Bukowski said, "An idiot is someone who takes something simple and complicates it, and a genius is someone who takes something complicated and simplifies it." There in lies the genius of Anthony Kiedis. A world so complicatedly screwed up, could very well be turned completely around with kindness. I agree, this man has long been an inspiration to me, and I am/will be 67 years old this month. I highly recommend reading his autobiography, "Scar Tissue", this guy paid some dues to be where he is today. He is a true artist, if that's what you're looking for, he is the genuine article.

I thought it was pretty cool, but like many punks in LA, I was listening hardcore stuff, like Black Flag, Circle Jerks, etc. I was able to finally see them live in San Fran, with The Cramps on New Year’s Eve (with Uplift MoFo Party Plan being their most recent album). Very high energy. It’s was a great show. I’m glad for all their success.

This is why Anthony Kiedis is a man I look up to. I was born and diagnosed with EDS( Ehlers- Danlos Syndrome) when I was a yr old and it was even rarer than it is now back then. I'm like a rubber person who lacks collagen and cannot process this needed protein " glue" . I have extremely painful dislocations, skin tears, keloids, meningitis, problem with heart, kidneys and right now am 45 and need full hip replacement which must be done one by one. I cannot be sutured normally etc. I had a stroke because of them trying a different pain med. I have to take meds that are not for it and get one pain medication besides legal med marijuana. There are no meds to treat it and I have learned to reset my own joints but I scream out loud. Since 15 yrs old , RHCP have played lollapalooza in my hometown of Chicago. Their music got me through losing a child to recovering from stroke where I lost speech and walking ability. I lipsynced RHCPs music to learn to speak again while having a child that's 1- 2 yrs younger than Anthony Kiedis, Everly... I am in person finally going to Mpls concert and it is my dream come true. Lollapalooza I always had to sit outside Grant Park because I never could buy a ticket. I'm also 8 yrs sober from alcohol in April. Thank you RHCP ♥

Born in 1973 in San Diego. Started listening to them as soon as their debut dropped. Saw them for the first time at SDSU's Montezumas Hall with Hillel on the Uplift Mofo Party Plan tour. Thelonious Monster opened on their STORMY WEATHER TOUR!!! One of the best teenage years gigs I ever attended. Next was @ Iguanas in TJ. I believe The Buthole Surfers opened. They started their set w/ smoke & real footage of a scalpel being taken to a male organ being removed for an early sex change/transition operation. People were getting sick, Lmfao. Never forget THE early Pepper's records (first 3). By Mothers Milk I'd completely lost interest. It was all meat puppets, Dinosaur Jr, Sonic Youth, Nick Cave, Talking Heads, The Clash, Elvis Costello, Beastie Boys, & of course Jerry Garcia (Saw my 1st GD show in April 1989 when I was 15) Jazz & various world music from Africa, Brazil, etc would eventually change my life forever. I love Fleas personality. Anthony seems kinda cool too. 'Blood Sugar Sex Magic' , although a few tunes were kinda fun, indicated all kinds of dark music industry things.

Thank you, I can't quite put to words how this has affected me, but I lost my job and marriage around the same time nearly a decade ago and I'm ashamed to say I've wasted all these years struggling to recover from the breakdown it caused. Luckily I didn't turn to drugs or alcohol, but I have other unhelpful coping strategies, like I go into shut down, isolating myself from people due to the hurt they cause and due lack of trust I feel unable to dare put myself out there for fear of getting hurt again. But this is a very sad and lonely way to live. And I keep reaching new lows in my life of anxiety, depression and isolation. I've been trying g to write songs as way to process my feelings as I have no friends I feel able to turn to. I've been working on lyrics for a song I'm writing this morning called "New Lows" but I hadn't written any music yet, but thanks to watching this I picked up my guitar and starting playing this riff inspired by "Under The Bridge" which I then incorporated into a chord progression I had written ages ago but had no lyrics. So I married the two up thanks to watching this very moving video. It really helps to know there are people in the world who think like this (I just wish I could find where there are in my area!). I just read the Alan Watts quote in the description about inflexible ppl being brittle and hard like steel bridges. I feel my problem is I keep coming up against these types of ppl in my life (some of whom I think may be autistic so I realise they can't help it, but still they end up hurting me.) When I need to be brave and seek out the more open, flexible type ppl who seek healthy interconnectedness and can do reciprocity (which autistic ppl struggle with.) Whereas I crave connection, but fear being burned. Sorry I've written so much, but it has helped having this 'safe space' (I hope!) To express myself. So I thank you for that as well. I have subscribed, looking fwd to more inspiring videos. 🙏

Man, Frank Zappa's son preaches! Such a kind and inspirational thought wavelength to extend to the world, Mr. Kiedis. I've listened to you since 'Freaky Styley,' Love is stronger than anything. It took stupid youthful experiences and their growing pains, the Marine Corps, tons of angst and anger from so many different things, then loss and regret, and learning how to cope with all of it in the aftermath over the years, to learn that it is much more beneficial for us to embrace that angst's antithesis. That love and fulfillment, not just chasing happiness, but fulfillment in the journey to our goals, are keys to a longer and healthier mindset and life. Find that Zen journey in your life and allow yourself to take it. Crest with the surge and ride that wave of the experience you are gaining through every trial and introduction whether nuanced or in your face. Nothing is 100%, so we anticipate that we will not achieve everything we strive to do and that is where we reinvent ourselves. We must learn to be at peace inside so we do not cause reckoning outside because we effect everything and everyone around us with our ripple. Strive to feel good about what you do, whether it is great to anyone else or not. This is YOUR path, take each stride in how YOU walk and at your pace, as your pace is a good pace. Always be open to learning and change because it will happen whether we like it or not. Every picture you ever see is a frame from the past.

It's odd that this video came up in a search - as I was looking for something / somewhere to find some solace... after losing my son Sean. He was 33 years young only 3 weeks ago. Sean had a kind, loving heart, I'd have shared this video with him - if he were still here. I feel so lost - still stunned/shocked... there are no words to describe this pain / this grief.

This is why you never judge a book by its cover. I knew of him and his band but not really a fan or anything. Just remember seeing him perform here and there on tv or his image on posters ect. I wouldn’t have thought he would be this way. Thoughtful, kind, ect. Just assumed wild rock star and nothing else. Just another reminder for me to look deeper before assuming.

I remember that interview at the end, from back in 90’s. It gave that song a profound poignancy after that. And I changed my path or was in the process of doing so/. His positivity coming out of all of that, confused me at the time, but gave me a sense of belief that kept me out of that dark place when things really did feel that way. This guy has had a profound influence on so many of us. With the exuberance and hard joy of the Chilli Peppers, and working through what’s learned in this life, being able to be better to the ppl around you and to yourself. Great to see this guy on Joe Rogen after all this time. And what I learned from him 30 years ago was real.

This is a wonderful video!! Kiedis is someone I've been listening to since Freaky Styley with RHCP. Frusciante is also hugely influential for me, and they both inspire me all the time in the recovery sense. I'm also 54, and they have always inspired me to stay in shape - I'm 5'4" and 120 lbs. Abstaining from alcohol has saved my life after many years of on and off drinking. I always think about these guys and their own battles with smack. And when I play guitar, I always think of Frusciante. When I sing, I think of Kiedis. Thanks for such a great video, featuring gems of truth from one of my biggest heroes. After a while, it goes beyond getting well - it becomes a living process of philosophies like his.

Nice edit. Thanks a lot for this. Two things that were going on in my mind while watching this video: 1) Anthony sounds like a person operating through his feminine side, which is incredible for someone like him, making music in the "hard rock" genre. 2) Does all this art and music matter any more now, I wonder? We've progressed to a much more highly technological culture than the times this man spent most of his life in, it seems.

We got everyone hooked on the Chili Peppers. They finally came to Alaska and all of our friends we got to like them went to the concert, we were broke at the time. I said to my other half that I can't believe we missed them!!! I'm glad our friends got to go but to this day I'm so upset that we didn't make it! Hopefully one day while they're still touring we'll ba able to. Love them! Under the bridge is actually our song, not because of drugs though.

The loneliness is a void that can only be filled with self love and appreciation for the life we share. We are different but the same. Connection, empathy, kindness, compassion, and love really is the foundation of life. Soulfully connected ❤️🩹💖
