Thank you for providing just what I wanted to hear ! I have today placed a deposit on a Rollerteam T Line 590 automatic! I saw this model at a campsite in Kewstoke near Weston Super mare in 2018 just before I left the UK for California. Fast forward a short 3 years and I am planning my return to UK.... Raised in Smethwick and a very long way from home it was so re-assuring to hear your dulcet tones describing all the positives and negatives of the van I had set my heart on. I shall be arriving back in UK hopefully, in January or February with a small case and my Sprollie, Bruce !! Love the videos, lots of good information and great to hear a local accent again !!!!

We still enjoy it. For a 6m van it feels very spacious with the layout having the washroom at the rear. We also love the separate shower rather than shower over toilet. Great video Thankyou. We are looking at the same van or the Pegaso 590 which is very similar but more expensive but not sure why
@LiveforTravel3 жыл бұрын
The Pegaso has a bespoke cab which makes it look different to a Ducato van. It also gives a little extra space. The only downsides (my opinion based on 29 years in automotive glass) is that 2 items that maybe necessary to replace at some point are the exterior mirrors and the windscreen. As both of these are not Fiat they can be problematic to obtain and are more expensive (for the owner and/or insurance). We hope you purchase your van soon.

That looks a great van and a very clear and informative video. I have a 6 metre Elddis panel van conversion, which is great especially being able to keep on my drive and use for going to the shops etc. but I am beginning the drawbacks in terms of space (at 2.05m width it is narrower than your 590) so I'm mulling over a change, maybe for next year perhaps. The 590 layout seems to tick all the boxes for me but one. I'm looking for dropdown bed (that goes all the way down), rear washroom with separate shower, auto and the looks of it internally and externally are all there. But the one drawback see is storage space for clothes, plus the outside gear, table, chairs, awning and BBQ. Do you find this a problem (with the 4 of you) because as at the present I can't really see past a chausson 650 - much the same except with an extra 15 or so inches in length. Did you by chance happen to consider that model? Enjoying the channel btw.
@LiveforTravel3 жыл бұрын
We didn’t consider that model. The elevating bed can be lowered to the seat base which means no ladder is then necessary. We seem to do fine with the storage although we do not take an awning or BBQ. We do love the space that the model has and it never ever feels like a 6 metre van. Thank you very much for watching and your comments.

Hi, started looking at sub 6m to fit on our driveway. Like you had, currently drive a SWB T6, had it a year and yearning more space with two kids under 10. Not so bad during summer, but shorter evenings force us into warmer van and then we're on top of one another. Where do you store duvets for the lower bed, and clothing please? Also, we like to enjoy a wine after kids have retreated to roof bed. If they do same in rollerteam, is there room for them to lie down and us to still enjoy the longe and TV please? Ta
@LiveforTravel4 жыл бұрын
We store sleeping bags for the kids on top of the elevating bed. If we were having a wine and wanted kids in bed it wouldn’t work for us as they sleep in the dinette area whilst we sleep on the drop down bed. We could sit in the lounge with the bed partially down but for us this isn’t something we would do.

Hi we love your new MH just wondering did buying from the show give you a much better deal, would you recommend show purchase rather than just going to local dealership. We are new to this have seen a manual version for £52k locally not sure if good deal or not. Any advice appreciated.
@LiveforTravel4 жыл бұрын
Sharon Lewis thank you 🙏 The show “offer” was £1500 off the retail. I would say the only benefit really is that I believe there was more than one dealership on the stand which technically would mean you would be able to discuss pricing with another if you think the deal isn’t right for you. My advice, not based on anything other than the experiences buying the last 35 vehicles (mainly cars), would be to focus on what you are prepared to pay. If you are trading in a vehicle for instance, any price offered for the part exchange off the retail of the new vehicle is not the most important element of the deal. It is always the Cost to Change. I have no issues when seeking a deal with a dealer offering much less than I think my part exchange is worth but the price of the new vehicle must be reduced too. In other words of course, I don’t mind what it says on the invoice other than the payment I am going to give to purchase the vehicle. For me, now I am old 😊 and not so concerned about what people think about me, I remove any personal thoughts and simply decide on what I am prepared to pay and don’t move from it. So, for our MoHo; and I am happy to share this in a future video, when asked “what was I looking to pay” I quoted a number. A fair number in my opinion, but just a number. After the 4th time the salesperson went off to discuss with his Manager (which is done more from a theatrical perspective in my opinion!) and returned to say “but we need to meet somewhere so where do we need to be at”, I said simply “my number was given to you at the start and it is the only one that will secure my purchase.” My advice therefore is to be stubborn (in a nice way). I had already asked my wife and kids to carry on around the show and said “I don’t think we will buy it today” and that is what I would recommend anyone to do; to be ready to walk away. I would never pretend that I have ever got the very best deal with any purchase as ultimately they are never going to tell you what the lowest price could be, but I am happy we got what we felt was fair. The trick is to remove as many incentives they have against you; finance packages, part exchange (although we did part ex our van) and anything else that puts the power in their direction. Whilst our funding was already in place; to remove any negotiation on finance which normally reduces your ability to get a better deal, we were in a great position to walk away and look another day. Remember, the salesperson knows that by far the majority of potential customers that they do not get on the day will not come back. We wish you all the best with your future Motorhome.

Johno Jorey thanks. There is a huge choice and equally large budgets out there. For us, we love the van we have chosen. The lack of cupboards under the drop down bed we have learned is to allow the bed to go down to the seat level so that if only 2 are using the van they can easily get in and out of it. I have spoken with a few “Roller Team” owners now and none of them have had any issues whatsoever with the shower although aesthetically I still think it would look nice finished with the white. Whichever van you decide on our only advice would be to use it, often. Too many people buy into this lifestyle and then hardly use the investment. I have looked at many vans out there, many that are years old and the mileage is embarrassing. We will either add many miles to our van or walk away. We trust it will be the former! Many thanks for your comments.

We would have had to pay for extras like awning etc. Carpets were quoted at £1400! We had ours custom made for a lot less by Carpets for Caravans. We wish you all the best with your Motorhome and thanks for watching.

I have the pegaso 590 which is the A class version of this motorhome. The only option other than engine upgrades offered by Roller Team was a carpet. The figure you quote of £1400-1500 is way of the mark. The list price from Roller team was £200. I have just checked the price guide and its still £200.

I have had a look and yes it does! I have an email from Malcolm Satchell of Cranham Leisure on 11/03/2020 that says “£1176 plus v a t.” I am wondering if there was a hope I would buy it and thus reduce the amount I had negotiated “up” on our campervan as part exchange.

Can you tell me how much analysis you did of the market for motorhomes and why you picked this particular van against other options?
@LiveforTravel4 жыл бұрын
mikeelawson we will be filming a video on reasons why in due course but we didn’t analyse anything to arrive at the decision as for me, analysis would be placing a lot of data in MS Excel and comparing some obvious items; purchase cost, depreciation, running costs (inclusive of MPG), length of warranty etc. We set a budget, decided on the size of the Motorhome (we chose sub 6m), what chassis (we prefer the Fiat Ducato) then (and most importantly for us) the internal layout. We chose Roller Team because we love the Italian design and overall look of the vehicle.

The under drop down bed cabinet question. The cabinets do add useful storage but the bed can't come down as low. So you will need a ladder.Also if you load the cabs too much you risk popping the motor fuse. If it's always just the two of you, and want a bed as low as possible, yours is the way to go. Four up even though you play cushion tetris the cabs would be nice.
@LiveforTravel4 жыл бұрын
Agreed. Since filming we have learnt that the reason for no cupboards is the bed being lowered to seat level (if there are two of course). Many thanks for watching our video and your comments.

Hi thanks for the informative video. Could you answer a few questions? How tall are you, How does the comfort of the bed compare with your one at home, and do you feel it has enough food and clothes storage?
@LiveforTravel4 жыл бұрын
JBS64 thanks 🙏 yes I’m 5’ 10”, the bed compares nice with our one at home as it is basically a proper bed with a mattress, storage for food is good as there are different cupboards and a 141 litre fridge. Overall storage is a compromise that we deliberately chose to give us the best feeling of space in a 5.99 metre van. The garage is vertical rather than horizontal and if you laid it down would not be as big. However, we think the vertical layout is more useful because, a) you are able to reach anything stored as it is all right there in front of you and b) one of the sections can be accessed from inside so no getting wet when needing something from it. We will do an honest review of storage soon.

Nice motorhome. Horses for courses obviously, but for me I wouldn’t prioritise the shower/toilet where you spend least time (and you can use site toilets/showers when on a site), to the detriment of the sleeping arrangements where you spend most time. Particularly having 4 people together on top of each other sleeping in one area... plus all the bed making etc etc. I prefer a fixed rear bed, a smaller wet toilet plus a bigger garage. My personal choice of sub 6m motorhome would be the Chausson 514 (Ford). But of course if yours works for you then great!
@LiveforTravel4 жыл бұрын
T P thank you. Yes different views and desires allows the many many options to be produced by all the different makes. For us, whilst we agree the bathroom is the least used place from a time perspective, having it across the rear of the van provides a fantastic open space in the habitation/kitchen area which we enjoy most of the time. For us, the bed set up (which we have now used) took us 2 minutes to move cushions etc and once we are sleeping, the 7 hours are hopefully spent asleep and so for us is absolutely fine. Definitely horses for courses but we tried a number of layouts during the NEC show in February and we have definitely chosen the right van for us. Many thanks for your comments 🙏
@tp74854 жыл бұрын
Live to Drive that’s fair enough. The other thought I subsequently had about the layout is if someone has a bad day or is sick (hopefully never but it happens on holidays/travelling!) and wants or needs to stay in bed then the whole living area is occupied...Anyway, these are just my personal concerns and the upsides for you I’m sure will outweigh any downsides! Very nice finish overall- particularly the lighting.

Thanks for the in depth presentation of your motorhome. We are looking to upgrade next year, our curren motorhome is 5.7m and we would like to get one slightly longer. The Roller team t-line 590 is on our shortlist along with the Pilote P626D, the Burstner harmony line td590 and the Benimar Mileo 202, like you I'm willing to pay more to have the automatic transmission also I'm hoping there will be a few around next year when people who have purchased one and come to the conclusion it's not for them?
@LiveforTravel3 жыл бұрын
We really are very happy with our T-Line. There are a few people who have had issues with them but we read people’s issues with many manufacturers and ultimately it is subjective as many people do not comment when things are fine. In my opinion, the Roller Team (which is part of the Trigano Group including Adria and Auto Trail) offer some lovely designs and are priced correctly as a “mid range” quality vehicle. To date, we are extremely happy with ours and it has just had its annual habitation check with only one minor issue (and one where the selling dealer failed to put enough straps on the gas cylinders). Have you joined the Roller Team Facebook Group? It is a generally good place to get the feel of them. The 9 speed auto, believe me, is so lovely to drive. Worth the investment. We are currently in Lancashire and on the last “fill-empty” we got 30.6mpg which I think is respectable. We hope you enjoy your new Motorhome when you decide which one to buy and we would agree with your view that, for some, they will find it is not what they want and will ultimately sell. Many thanks for watching and feedback.

Will one leisure battery be enough? How long will it run the fridge, tv, hot water etc?
@LiveforTravel3 жыл бұрын
Good question. If RT think one is sufficient with a solar panel then we feel it is fine. Our plans our to mix off grid camping with EHU campsites this year so this will be tested. Would hope for 1-2 days winter and 3-4 days with more solar in summer. We will film the result. The fridge does not run off the leisure battery; runs off the vehicle battery when engine is running then either gas or EHU. Hot water is heated by gas. The only reason the heating will use more power will be the fan.
@ianrkav3 жыл бұрын
@@LiveforTravel Thanks for that. On your last point, that's the downside of blown air heating. It uses a lot of battery. Hot water I believe can be heated by either gas or electric, or a combination of both. I like your van by the way. I hadn't considered Roller Team but I will add that one to my shortlist:-) What's that 9 speed like to drive? I suspect it is a Mercedes sourced unit so it should be good. I prefer manual but will also look at autos. I think your assessment on one battery is about right for a family.
@LiveforTravel3 жыл бұрын
@@ianrkav thanks. Yes the heating can work on gas or electric but not leisure battery so the heating would be done by gas but the fan by the battery. We love the 9 speed automatic. Extremely smooth and it is a proper automatic rather than an auto clutch on a normal gearbox. The video does say that the cost (assuming you were not going for the higher output engine otherwise) is quite high as you have to upgrade the engine output to 140ps (a cost option) to then pay for the upgrade to auto. Thanks for your comments.

2 corrections to the review: 1) the fridge works either by; When vehicle is driven, EHU (Electric Hook Up) or Gas. The fridge will not function on the leisure battery when vehicle engine is off. 2) the sensor on the opening window above the heater vent does not detect fumes. It is a simple contact switch that when window is opened prevents the heating from working.

We've been looking at many MoHo's but the 6m designs with drop down beds and large bathroom are high on our list. There are probably no cupboards under the bed as looking at your wall rails, it's designed to be lowered completely to the lower seating position with the table lowered fully and seat backs removed, so enabling an easier bed access without a ladder. Being a (older 😀 ) couple only, that's what we would probably do. We really need to go to a national show as local dealers are brand specific so unable to see all of the options available.
@LiveforTravel4 жыл бұрын
Colin Phillipson ah, that would explain about the lack of cupboards! Thanks. We think if interested in a 6m Motorhome then the elevating bed and rear bathroom layout offers the best balance of space and practicality. Thanks for your comments 🙏
