We Spent the Day with Prehistoric Beasts in Los Angeles

La Brea Tar Pits is an active paleontological research site in urban Los Angeles. Hancock Park was formed around a group of tar pits where natural asphalt (also called asphaltum, bitumen, or pitch; brea in Spanish) has seeped up from the ground for tens of thousands of years. Over many centuries, the bones of trapped animals have been preserved. The George C. Page Museum is dedicated to researching the tar pits and displaying specimens from the animals that died there. La Brea Tar Pits is a registered National Natural Landmark.
These animals and many more all roamed 10,000+ years ago where Los Angeles currently stands!

Thank you for taking us along for the ride.. have never been.. but looks like something we will need to do in the future.. That tusk is longer than Alan is tall.. Woah!! These animals went extinct when Humans started to show up.. gee imagine that eh! We destroy everything we touch and call it progress.. is it.. really!! From the day we stood on two feet, we began our campaign of destruction of the earth.. Sad but true.. not because we have to but because it’s easier and the human race is lazy,. Technology today is now making US obsolete.. so what happens next.. LOL.. Deep thoughts.. or as Arsenio used to say.. ‘Things that make you go Hmmm’ .. Amazon being clear cut.. not because we have to, but because we choose too, we don’t need to drill for oil (there are natural alternatives albeit more work to get) but we choose too..
