Shelly Duvall MADE The Shining. That movie performance was pure genius on Shelly’s part. As the child of a very abusive father, she nailed the anxiety and the uncertainty of a woman who is walking on eggshells around her unstable husband. In my opinion, Shelly deserved an Oscar for that portrayal. Every nuance and fidgety movement was the nervous energy of a woman afraid of her every move. I Love you, Shelly! You’re so beautiful, inside and out! Also loved her performance in The 4th Floor as Martha the nosy, building, manager, opposite, Juliette Lewis! ❤❤❤

It was really lovely how you both shared your own personal experiences of how she had positively influenced your lives. This kind of sharing really touches an artist, since they can never really be sure of the extent of their impact on the world. After Shelley had struggled so much and experienced such disrespect and pain from Dr. Phil and the masses, I really do believe that you two changed her life for the better, and she likely left the world a happier person than she otherwise would have been.
