It’s always weird for me to see people travelling from Milngavie north as because I live in Glasgow I would do it from the far side back. More than half the people doing it seem to be Germans. I spoke last year to 2 middle aged Alaskan women doing it and asked “don’t you have trails in Alaska?” and they replied “yes, but we have bears”.

We saw lots of people walking both directions! We decided to walk North because we planned on returning for the Great Glen Way!

Roughly a days walk from Milngavie is the Trossachs and Loch Lomand where a permit is needed in spring/summer to camp there due to idiots from Glasgow turning every weekend into Deliverance.

It's funny...many have opinions as to where the Highland way starts...I think it's at Balmaha.. but...good on yees... Love it...thanks

It’s literally signposted and documented in many maps and guidebooks. It’s not an opinion based route. It’s 96 miles and very clear. That like saying ‘my opinion is the NC500 is only 450 miles long’.

Hi, yes it is signposted etc...coming from Glasgow I'm saying that even us natives debate the start of the route....you can get a bus to Balmaha...the convenient start...or walk it I suppose...doesn't matter...thanks for the reply...all me love...x

When did you guys do this walk ? I started it myself last Monday, it lashed down all day and the paths were a muddy disaster. Made it to Drymen Campsite and had to bail due to my sleeping bag being soaked through 🤦🏻‍♂️

Aw no that’s horrible to hear! A wet sleeping bag is the worst (we would know it happened to us as well). We actually completely the WHW last September. A good friend told us once that the mountains will always be there. I’d totally recommend going back and completing the hike someday. It was an amazing experience!

Reseach Scotland canp 99% of places but not peoples gardens. Took the wrong road to end up in Drymen...that was a hill. it is only a small hill. Fence is to stop deer moving and eating young trees.

Camping dengan kelompok itu masih baik tetapi camping satu dua orang itu merupakan kegiatan perorangan yang akan mengundang banyak komentar dan kompling oke dan itu tujuannya tidak jelas oke karena ini merupakan urusan pribadi berdua yang tidak bisa melibatkan banyak orang oke karena kegiatan harian yang sudah biasa di lakukan oleh semua orang kecuali awal star ada penjelasan ada pembukaan secara resmi oleh para , pejabat negara , kepala dinas pariwisata oke itu baru resmi dan itu ada tujuan yang dapat di ketahui semua negara oke thanks syalom 🙏
