Technically thats Not a straight pipe... A straight pipe conversion is custom made pipework from the manifolds to the rear of the car with no cats or boxes etc.... Still sounds good though...

Sure, what you see is the muffler (sometimes called backbox) inside this, you can see fibre glass used to subdue the exhaust sound note from factory making it a lot quieter , I also replaced the tubes which you can see in the video. The V10 now sounds incredible, thanks for viewing and the subscription - more content to follow soon. 😀

It does seem that way but a very skilled & experienced welder can complete the job without obliterating the back box. 😁

How much difference does it make to leave the secondary cat on. I awesome m6. It sounds great. Maybe too great for my M5. love the note to my stock exhaust m5 but would like to get a nicer tone from it. Especially above 5k rpm, if you know what I mean.:)Thanks

😊 I'm with you pal! You could delete your mufflers and leave both cats intact to get a nicer tone although you may be left wanting more after that. Honestly though, stock cars still sound awesome as BMW did a fantastic job with the S85! Thanks 😃

You won't regret bro, I would definitely suggest setting aside some extra funds for preventative maintenance. But overall my car has been 100% reliable. It's an LCI and would suggest you go for that too.

Definitely, I would suggest getting a model at least from 2008 (LCI facelift) ...triple check maintenance history and all that good stuff. 🙌

It's typically only cosmetic updates (headlights & tailights etc) however occasionally it presents the opportunity for them to fix some issues.

What did you mean when u said tubes replaced? Did you replace the inner pipes when u cut the exhaust open?

That's correct, stock ones are perforated as shown in the video and they were replaced with "regular tubes" to channel the sound through.

Hey, they're really just metal tubes cut to size. I've since changed the entire exhaust system though

Think I am probably alone in thinking it sounded better before. Now it sounds like a car with a blown exhaust. Maybe when it's pushing 8000rpm it sounds like an F1 car. Anywho as long as the owner is happy who cares.

As I said it is probably just me. Looking to upgrade the exhaust on one I have just got, so looking for ideas. You are so right very difficult to get good audio. Had a 69 428 cobra jet that sounded like thunder on the video sounded very muted. All the very best keep up the good work 👍

I agree, it sounds obnoxious straight piped in my opinion whereas the stock sound was more smooth and refined. I find most straight pipes sound like trash unless they’re done by real exhaust experts who can correct the diameter of the piping to ensure a quality sound. Remember, bmw invests a ton of money (or used to) into exhaust sound, M division even has their own specific sound designer.

It depends on where you are state and county for the Midwest. I'm from a farm county so noise and emmission don't matter, whereas Chicago and a few of the larger cities have totally different standards.

Absolutely no negative side effects, it doesn't even drone. I chose to keep the primary cats in which meant the sensors didn't need to be removed. It sounds incredible and cheaper than an aftermarket exhaust system.
