A few years ago I was able to get away with selling let's just say not so great stuff like Starbucks mugs, board games etc...Now none of that is selling. I'm on the hunt now for only primo items that go for 50$ and up. Not wasting my time on knick knacks etc.. My sales are up in the last two or three months. Nothing fantastic but it's up. It's due to basically sourcing better items.

Almost exactly what my plan is for this year. Quality over quantity. I had way too much crap listed that just doesn't move anymore. I've been slowly purging my inventory and am going to start focusing on bigger dollar items as well. Good luck to you!

I'm confident the sales will come, I've been selling in many categories the last 7 months starting from scratch inventory and 200.00 I threw on the account for start up costs. Im able to run it all from home , so no overhead at this time. I did participate in Justin's survey and my sales directly reflect the numbers of items I'm listing. 90 percent of my new listings sell fast , this reflects how much I've learned these last 7 months , especially sell through rate. What i know now is ten fold from when i began only a short time ago. Without content such as yours , this learning curve would have taken much longer no question about that !

This is a broadcast comment on many of my favorite YT Flippers channels. I am a new (full-time) reseller, 9 Months in the business. I have bought and sold on ebay to support hobbies for 20 years. My first 6 months of reselling, I clearly got out of eBay and Poshmark what I put in. I have steady conservative goals and I was meeting them. Starting in early February I started to fall behind my expected sales projections. I am trying to double my efforts and list through the sales drought, confident that the work to list items is money in the bank. That said I am definitely nervous over the duration of my current eBay slowdown. I have loved going to yard sales since I was able to make change. This year I am more excited than ever. I am more excited than I was in 2003 when I could fill my SUV with Video Games in a morning. I know more about more things than I ever have, and I definitely owe it all to the handful of resellers I've been following on KZbin. Next poll should ask how many sellers have a part time or full time job (something other than reselling). The most money I ever made was the couple years I worked full time and was reselling part time. This was long ago, when ebay was young and you could literally auction almost anything on ebay and get bids. Long gone are those days!

Not sure if it is the items not moving as fast compared to 2022 and mid 2023 OR if it's all the RECENT repeated Ebay technical issues (constantly shutting down servers, search issues, listings disappearing, offers from buyer issues, prices suddenly changing issue....) Looking at your colleagues vote scores, one can see that average 60% are experiencing Issues with sales, so it is not the Sellers items it is issue with EBAY or the economy; leaning more to the former (EBAY issue)

I've just started watching some of these ebay videos because I needed to speed up my Ebay game. These basic ideas, like no auctions all buy it now, has revamped my approach altogether. I'm working hard adjusting to the change, I have sales all the time now, some things I've bought at estate sales sell in a couple of days. I don't know if I have enough time doing my Ebay game this way to compare to others with more experience, but I'm doing sales like never before, it's a night and day difference and I've been doing it wrong this whole time, but change is good!😊

Thanks for the info. I went from about 5-7 packages to post office a day to 5-7 per week! Hope things pick up soon. I am going to try to figure out what items have a better STR so I can start picking up again.

I think the results relate to what the KZbin reseller sells. Since you sell fast STR items, your audience tries to also sell fast STR items. Of the other KZbin channels you mentioned, I only watch Hairy Tornado. Since they buy a lot of slow STR items for their WhatNot shows (like plush and toys), it's possible that their audience also thinks that's what they should sell and of course, with the slow STR items, they would be in the below average and below categories. My sales are 30% less than last month, and 20% less than the same month last year but if you had asked this question in November or December of last year, my sales were up 52% compared to the prior year. It would be good to ask this question again in the fourth quarter.

For sure it is a full year scope that should be used. Not everyone sells the same type of fast STR items. A certain item may not sell fast in february but turn around and sell out in march. I don't think it's so much of having everything fast sale through as it is having a majority of your items listed being FSTR. I think you need both type of items available for buyers but keep your slow self through rate at 40% or less of your total items you sale that matters the most. Slow sale through is for the long haul of your business.

Especially if the slower self through items are small or there is big profit margins ahead. I picked up 2 boxes of photo equipment that had 50 of the same item. I listed them and sold none for 3-4 months and now I have been selling around 6-7 boxes a week.

I will say, I have looked at quite a few of your videos, and I find all the information helpful. I started in November and month by month, it has gotten better. I am no expert, but this has been my best month so far and the month is not even finished. We all must help each other and focus on learning in growing. The results make sense to me if you look at what types of videos you put out. Yours are always positive so those type of people watch your channel. At least one channel that didn't have as good results has put out some negative videos and those draw the people who are looking to be negative. The one stand out is Hairy Tornado. I believe he truly is what he has said in the past that he is a youtuber, not a reseller. He makes great videos but picks up questionable and even bad items especially in his earlier days. The money he makes from Whatnot would probably be nonexistent without his huge following. I think many people purchase items they see him buy even when he says they are only good for Whatnot and really probably only his Whatnot auctions.

Hey, quick question I've had a personal account for over 20 years and recently have had a lot of people asking me to sell things for them but I typically turn it down because I don't want to deal with a tax mess. Starting to think it might be worth looking into seeing if it could be worth while side hustle. Any ideas when it comes to selling items for other people? Is there an easy way to document and track when lets say I don't own the item essentially would take a % cut from the overall total? Hard to decipher what taxes may exist when I don't own the item, shipping cost etc. Thanks!

I found this very interesting. Hairy tornado was one of the first channels I started watching when I got into reselling. I have since stopped watching his channel. I just found it to be more for entertainment but not educational. I don’t mean that as knock on him but there’s just other channels that find to be much more beneficial.

I like Hairy Tornado and others like him, but there's not a lot you can pull from them from an information standpoint. Their videos are good to watch to kill time mainly. You and Justin Resell's videos are more cerebral and for actual resellers or those serious about getting into it to learn the game better.

I'm under and below. It's not a full-time thing for me, but I'm thinking of reducing drastically. If I wasn't a reseller on eBay, I wouldn't buy from eBay. I buy some things, but Walmart and Amazon are my go-to.

I feel it picking up in the last ten days or so. My problem since the start of the year is sourcing, thrift stores have been thin. I only pick up items I can make $20 or more on, but I’m starting to find stuff again. I’ve only been selling since September of last year, so really small sample set, only one quarter. Not worried, but was slow.

Good items to sell can no longer be found at Goodwill. in my state. It's rare to find anything of value. I've been branching out to other locations and thrift shops.

Did you account for overlapping subscribers that took the survey? There are so many factors, but it's good to see a general overview. Mine, personally, are down by 30%. But, I had a garage sale in January and I had to take care of home and car issues which took away from me listing.

The only thing that I think is wrong with these polls is that it's only focused on Ebay. If you went just by this you'd think that reselling was doomed. Plus a lot of the audience on those big channels are interested in items that typically have a slower STR. It's a good video but I would take this info with a grain of salt, especially if one only sells on Ebay. I don't know why people still sell on there if they're not going to change the types of items they sell or just move to Walmart or Amazon.

Of the KZbinrs i watch the results were what i would expect from their audiences. Influencers that complain about low sales have more viewers with slow sales. The creators that are no excuses have viewers with good sales. To me that was predictable.

Also the sellers from you tube who always have negative Narrative about eBay as there title always attract negative watchers , Only Watch the positive things and you will be positive . what makes the difference in your opinion? I have most of my sales on Poshmark and only a handful on Ebay. Same items listed on both platforms. I'm a top rated seller on Ebay but that doesn't seem to make a difference. I don't offer free returns so perhaps that might be a factor? @@JrideFlips

Great video, but I wonder how many ppl actually compared their sales to that month last year before they voted, or just knew their numbers generally speaking? Maybe ppl numbers might be worse than the previous month but are actually better than they did the year before, so they think that sales are down, but their sales could actually be up from the previous year if they compared it to that month..like Jan 2023 vs. Jan 2024 not Dec. 2023 vs. Jan 2024 They could actually be doing better ,starting the year out, than they did the year before, but not even realize it.

Nothing surprising in this data. Most people will be in the middle with sales that are average to below average. The issue is "average" sales on Ebay can still be a very low amount but that is just what sellers are used to at this point. It is subjective. This poll might be more insightful or accurate if you guys polled with actual numbers like how many sales are you making per month or $ amount

I think it boils down to how much you put into it. Be honest with yourself. My sales have been down this year, but i have not been as diligent as i have been in the past with listing and sourcing. There are usually reasons why our sales are down. Just have to be honest with what we're actually putting into it? Just my opinion and definitely my problem!
