You know people seem to forget the Ravin crossbow is a really nice crossbow but you're also shooting really high quality bolts out of that crossbow Black Eagle is like one of the best bolts you can buy if you were probably shooting anything else that would affect your accuracy but nobody brings that up nobody gives credit to the Black Eagle company that produces those bolts that shoots so well out of the crossbow
@blacksrfm

Honestly, the stock arrows that come with Ravin aren’t the greatest they are only used probably because they are the cheapest, and it’s not the arrows that is causing this it is the design of the roller system that is causing this accuracy

300 and whatever you said per second deep per second you gotta remember that that’s cranked all the way up the lens bottomed out that’s not all the way through. If you let off tension it’s not all the way through the if you let tension on the limbs you don’t get the 315 feet or 300 and whatever you want, you let off the limbs a little bit. It’s only at full tension because I had the same question and that’s what they told me.

I have a Ten Point Titan HLX. It’s 12 years old now. Still drilling deer every year at 304 fps. I’ll never pay $2400 for any crossbow. Old school rule still applies. The faster it shoots the quicker it breaks.

You are right a high dollar crossbow is not for everyone, and of course, if the crossbow is shooting a higher feet per second it can lead to things breaking faster than older slower models because they have more tension on it

@@blacksrfm no, 20+ years ago things were made to last, now they do things so that as soon as the warranty expires,they tear so you have to buy a new one everybody is looking at profit. if once the thickness of the string was 400 used to make it strong and solid, today they use the 1000 string which is thinner (and fits more in the reel, so they earn more, and you get less quality)

If you’re shooting off of a bench and it isn’t level, you’re going to be off. You’ll keep chasing your bolts. Sometimes if you move the scope you have to make sure that the vertical crosshair is perfectly straight so you’re. It leaning to one side or the other, especially at longer ranges. Trial and error over time has lead me to figure it out when using crossbows vs rifles.

They’re probably very nice? Never tried my super inexpensive Killer Instinct at 100 but at 40 and in I have to shoot at different bullseyes each shot to avoid ruining arrows. And I’ve killed 4 mature bucks with it so far! Bone Collector 380 Walmart clearance $124! I just shoot heavier arrows and broadheads for better performance.

Great shooting and nicely done video. I think the biggest reason for the consistent accuracy of these RAVIN crossbows is the "Hiliacoil" technology where the arrow floats off the rail. That said, their R1-10 has a cantilevered scope mount and costs a lot less, The R-26 a newer version has the same fixed scope, firmly attached on both ends and it's not cantilvered! And it's only $1999 or so, a lot less.

Hey Bones, have you tried shooting broadheads out to that distance? I got my r29X a few weeks ago and I also like it very much, its very accurate...with the field tips that is. I sacrificed one of my ravin brand titanium broad heads and I couldn't achieve the same results. I'm getting at best 2" groups at 40 yards and as a veteran PRC shooter this is driving me nuts. Your thoughts?

Ya, so..... That is precision, not accuracy. Accuracy would by how far from the center of the aiming point to where the arrow hit. You were measuring group sizes and that is a measurement of consistency regardless of the distance from the aiming point. Kind of important...

@seanmtactical6069 2 ай бұрын
@@blacksrfm Bro, what are you talking about? They were not hitting at what they were aiming at, they were hitting near it and then continuing to shoot for group size. That is precision. Accuracy is if they were to be precise and also hit where they were aiming. When the arrows are hitting 6" right and they continue to aim and impact in that area, it is not accurate. This is literally in the first pages of every science lab text book for high school and college, the difference in precision vs accuracy.

Yes, the crossbow is insanely accurate, but the price is also insanely high considering it's age and how much plastic they have used to build it. With their new crossbow coming out, the price for this should drop a lot in my opinion. Then it might become a good/great buy. With the price it has now, it is not worth it in my opinion. There are plenty good crossbows that are plenty accurate for most hunting that are much cheaper than this one.

@@blacksrfm I've shot nothing but dimes for the 4 years I've had my R29. The only complaint I really have with it is that it's kinda boring to own if you're looking for a hobby.... it literally just shoots wherever you aim it, so target practice isn't very much fun after a couple of shots. But, I bought mine to hunt with, and it has been absolutely perfect at dropping every deer that I've aimed it at.
