They’re all gone now. It was a great two year ride for Manukau but same old story for small clubs - once the coach goes, all his players go with him or go elsewhere. But nothing takes away from those Gallaher Shields. It was beautiful and all of the Southside rode that wave with that team.

That was an amazing documentary. Always wondered if they had camera crews following them during that 2022 year I had a feeling that was more than just a win, that was a great moment in history that can never be taken away. That last penalty kick against Ponsonby in 2022 was such a sweet strike of the ball never looked like missing. Congrats to all involved that was wholesome and beautiful.

Thankyou for sharing & showing this.🙏 I cried.😭 I cried because that's home to me as a young boy🏃 and teenager 🤸♂growing up🏊♂ in the late sixties🚴♂ and early seventies🏋. The memories.🤼 I'm so proud of those players and coach's and supporters. Because it exemplified sports at its core. Hard work - Fun - Happiness - belief of effort - emotions. I forget what its like to laugh and enjoy. Thankfully time has not eroded that joy from the players & the Manukau community. 🙏 Go Manukau Rovers.

As boy who grew up in south Auckland I Played them in the pre season Karaka Vs Rovers. And it was a physical battle and they definitely put us to the sword each time. Tough part was as a young 115 kg prop it was hard scrumming against the bigger props on that side but it also taught me a lesson as well. Massive respect and brotherhood after the game too but grateful and happy to see small clubs in south Auckland get noticed and also it inspires young and upcoming athletes to play for this great club much love rovers 🙏🏽

In the final at Eden Park, I was sitting with my Yr 9 daughter in the same row with All Black Ofa and his wife ( his wife knew my son as her younger brother's team mate with Mangere East Hawks). We exchanged hellos and watched the game just hoping the underdogs Manukau would do us proud regardless of the result......the game was exciting and as the game went on, me and Ofa were cheering like crazy as the rest of Manukau supporters were...truly a great day for the club
