What an episode! I am glad you are taking advantage of this stretch of calm seas.I have caught maybe a half dozen of those Atlantic Bonito in my life {almost 73]. It just goes to show how important it is to bleed those fish out. None of the ones I caught had fillets even close to yours. Back then I didn't bleed them out just throw them in the fish box. The fillets were a light pink color. I got a kick out of you saying you caught that last AJ on "a dead piece of squid".

Grew up fishing the Gulf of Mexico in Texas, mostly Port Aransas but once out of Venice, LA. Never heard of an Atlantic Bonita caught in the Western Gulf. I have caught skipjack tuna at the floaters while deep jigging down 200+ ft in 3000 ft of water. Even saw a big broadbill on top one night.

If you forage for food there are no limits and there are no rules, when you purchase a license you are now in business your in business with the government or whoever gives you the license, there is no license required to forage for food, it's the same thing with a hunting license or even a drivers license, all licenses are to do business,if you are not selling quarry you're not in business and no license is required.

For the no-see-ums : , talk with the women folk, ask to try " Avon Skin so soft " ,. The wife swears by it. Works for skeeters too, No idea if it will keep the knats at bay. Apparentlty it's scentless, so no worries about wearing a girly product 🤣🤣 ..Seriously though check it out.😉
