When people say gymnastics or dance aren't sports I literally lose it Edit: Okay it's been 2 years and I completely forgot this existed but I looked through every comment and had to add a few things: 1. Cheer, skating, skiing, horse back riding, and a ton of other SPORTS are all sports and I feel bad y'all have people deny they are. 2. So the whole "dance is/isn't a sport" thing. You guys all had pretty good points, like the definition of a sport and it's more of a performance art, and all that. And honestly, it is more of a performance art then anything, BUT I still believe that dance is a sport. Especially competative dancers, they're insane athletes. And I say all this as a ballerina that works hard to maintain strength throughout so many muscles. So I still say dance is a sport 3. Okay lastly, I've never had this many likes on a comment and I really enjoyed looking through all your comments so thank you! Anndd finally I hope you guys are all washing your hands for 20 seconds at least, especially if you still are going out!

Sport: an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment. By this definition competitive dance and gymnastics and cheerleading all qualify so don’t go around saying dance isn’t a sport because it’s an art. It can be both. By this definition “for entertainment” sports count as arts too.

I'm trying to learn how to do a front split, I've been practicing everyday but I don't think I'll be able to get it bc I can't even do a cartwheel. ;-; Also before corona, I was going to sign up for gymnastics but I was too scared because since I'm new to it I didn't want to be placed with little kids, but I also didn't want to be with kids my age because they have probably been doing gymnastics since they were toddlers and I didn't want them to just stare at me if I did something wrong, lol! But I've been trying to self teach myself some level 1 moves. Forward roll: yes Backward roll: yes Candlestick: yes Bridge: yes Handstand: not really, but I can do a headstand Cartwheel: nope! Splits: I'm getting there!

I'm not sure but I doubt you will be placed in a group that is too young or advanced. And in regards getting those skills, Splits: use pillows under your crotch when you are trying to stretch them as it will help you keep your form Handstands: use a wall it may seem uncomfortable and weird at first but I may help you get confidence to kick up properly and learn to stabalozd yourself, also your core strength and balance from headstands will help. Cartwheels, you kind of just need to fall a few times and just slowly build up confidence and momentum I hope this helps 😁

Oh my gosh I can really relate to this because I started gymnastics when I was 13 years old and seeing all like the 6-10 year olds doing back handsprings, fly springs and backflips when I couldn't even do a cartwheel when I started gymnastics was super embarrassing to me

You guys are all saying that buzzfeed should do other sports cause they are harder, you should realize that gymnastics and flipping is pushing your body to the limits ( flexibility etc. )

Aliesa Mckay gymnastics is hard yes, but dance is harder in my opinion but I only did gymnastics for a year and dance for 6 years so I might be wrong

rhii im not the type of person that likes ballet. its too girly for me tbh. but yeah it does because they are very strict snd you have to be a certain weight.

This made me notice how hard I actually train. I train at North Stars gymnastics in Boonton, 5 days a week, 4 hours a day, 20 hours a week.

I'm MOST impressed with Michelle. Like, holy hell, girl got a roundoff backhandspring in a week. She's fit, but she wasn't a gymnast. I'm SUPER impressed and proud.

She was already really strong, she works out a lot. Working out also gives you better control over your body, so all she had to learn were the motions of it. Backhand springs really aren't hard if your fit and trust yourself.

? what is annoying about her? she's so normal. she doesnt have a weird voice or complain about anything. she is just good at athletic stuff because she used to be a gymnast. maybe YOU are a annoying for hating on someone who is talented. maybe YOU are annoying because you are a jealous person.
