I haven't gotten info on events after they happen near me because I too, avoid humans. Also music in anime made me think of Apothecary Diaries because @Kevin Penkin. Need I say more? The Pokémon Manga did focus more on what trainers could do. In a lot of their fights it was more than just fight my guys. There was more 3d strategy going on. They also would use different tools to enhance their fighting styles. Red used special gloves to make it where he can let his Pikachu charge its electric attacks in its ball. There was scene where one trainer focused on attacking another trainer's pokeballs in a way that would seal them in. In fights against the bad guys the trainers had to focus on protecting themselves from their opponent's Pokémon attacks. There was also a Manga where trainers fused with their Pokémon. It was around Gen 5ish. The MC fused with Zekrom in a fight. I remember the panel but not much else.

If I had to mix two power systems I think I would do the serum from Terraformars (along with everything else connected to the weirdness of that animes whole deal) and along with everything in demon slayer. Not because it fits or would be good but purely because of the absolute chaos it would cause. Or maybe the parasites from Parasite and the Demon slayers are tracking them down but its a modern day, secret service esque version of the demon slayer corps that hunts down these shape-shifting monsters. Oh I've got a good one actually Devils from Chainsawman and Stands from Jojo. Humans fighting the physical manifestations of their collective fears by using the physical manifestations of their fighting spirits.

Got to write a manga for a college class, ended up writing and co illustrated a 30 chapter Pokemon story, where there was 1 " Bond phenomenon" pokémon per type, The two main characters had fusions as well, probably my favorite thing I've ever made, too bad it survived on the internet for less than a day before being removed for copyright 💀 thanks PCI

Building off Danny's idea. The pokemon and trainer fight together, but depending on the type of pokemon the trainers use, that becomes the trainers "type". So like, they have a special suit that lets them sync with the pokemon, and they fight together. They get some special abilities, but it's mostly hands. And how high the friendship is how much of a boostbthe trainer gets..... I had more thought to that than i expected
