Hey there , Nice to watch you trying new cuisines . Bit of suggestions . When having thali which is meant for 1 person , please ask for extra rice or roti/ bread etc ( cost added) so that you all can enjoy the food . We do not eat only veges/ non veg alone , it’s always accompanied with rice or roti , thus it does not taste very pungent or spicy . Now FYI the prawn curry you had, was cooked in coconut gravy with drumsticks (shevga shenga ) ( not chicken drumsticks 🍗 😜) And not with lady finger / okra / bhindi . Secondly you were getting a flavour of cardomom ( elaichi) Not cinnamon (dalachini) in gulab jamun . Happy to see the children trying to eat other than bread . Hundred things are there for children to have other than spicy dishes like for breakfast idli, dosa , upama , poha , parathas , puri’s, with mild curry’s/ chutneys. Request the restaurant to serve you with less spicy or no spicy food for kids . Good to see you all cooking and enjoying local cuisine . Best luck for future journey . Oh great you are in Goa now, food will start getting spicier now, but you can tell them to make it mild. Foods you should try is Crabs, Rashado bangado, Pork vindaloo, ros omlette (mostly a street food), can try squids butter garlic (its mild no spices), sweets like bibinca, dodol, dose (all goan specialty)
