The concept of a cotton candy machine is to centrifuge melted sugar through small holes, and because things will follow the path of least resistance, thin strands of melted sugar will form. Essential points to this are that things must be able to melt, so anything sugar free that uses things like sucrose, maltodextrin, or sugar alcohols will not melt, but rather burn, vaporize, or polymerize by mixing with other stuff in the chamber (hence the burning lifesavers). Any other candies that are used have to be free from a lot of other different additives like gelatin, agarose, xanthan gum and other stabilizers since that stuff will interfere will the melting, or at least have reactivities that are vastly different, and also will probably burn instead of melting. Stuff like caramel and taffy, basically anything you test on a stove top that melts pretty well will work. That all said, was still waiting for this to be terminal cancer levels of cursed. Was expecting everything but the kitchen sink to be thrown in there to make In-N-Out sauce cthulu's come out of the thing

Only worked at the zoo for 1 summer, but try using a food processor or blender to get a fine powder mix of the hard candy flavor you want and then mix it with the cotton candy mix. I think they might sell unflavor ones and then go from there and use the machine.
