This video is really a reference point for me. As a hobby violin player, I've been fed up with my awful sound that I generate with my violin and started considering to change to cello. But I realized that I should stick to my violin after watching TwoSetViolin trying first time with cello. They are not same string instruments. It requires totally a different skill set. 😭
@yourguitargf
@yourguitargf Жыл бұрын
Just remember that the awful sound you’re talking about is likely because you’re a beginner ☺️ Give yourself some time. I’ve been a cellist for a year and a half after switching from viola because it just suit me better. I’m learning the same piece as B&E and it surprised me how fast they caught on!

I spent half a year on a cello and still probably couldn't compete with how fast they picked it up. My problem is I get bored of one thing really fast, so I switch between pieces a lot. Today started one which kills my pinkie in the middle of it (allegro and 16th notes :( )

@@carsonandgabesplayroom4675 Yes, it's better to try than just to imagine. So, I initially turned my interest to cello, and then violoncello da spalla, which is played like violin but with cello sound. However, violoncello da spalla is not available in my country. And then, I started thinking about making my viloin sound one octave lower using octave string. And then eventually, my mind settled with an electric violin with octave pedal. Haha! What a journey! :)

This is amazing in that you can actually see all of the other musical skills outside of the technical mastery of their instruments come to play. Sight reading, understanding mood and tone and color. It's quite impressive and illuminating of what it takes to be a musician at this level.

cellist here. I actually agree. Some peoples' pinkies are strong, but might as well start the swan with 3, not 4. The other advantage is that the shift to 1 on the B is only one finger away from the 2 you would use to play the F#, so the switch is easier to make clean.

Great video guys! Total respect since i am a conductor/composer and before that i played on the piano and percussion so of course string instruments were like a total "different street" in the same district for me xd I still remember how during my academy years i picked violin as my orchestra instrument and i loved just figuring out it by myself although even if it was a bit beat up i was taking the best care of it that i could, and it honestly felt amazing to have something different than piano at my house xd But to the point, Poor Hyung at 7.01 Eddy you totally went 'on the black keys' with this statement xd Still big respect for you three since i've watched other videos with Huying's appearance and he's a great cellist and a great man just like you two! :D Hope you're staying healthy and have enough of good vibes around you, if you ever come to Poland on tour again maybe then a certain video about learning how to conduct in one hour could happen who knows xd But i honestly would want to see you guys here again, let's all hope this will be possible! All the best to you guys and your crew! Let's not forget to practice of course! PS: Edit-team, great job on the videos as well, this editing always brings a smile on my face! As someone who plays both cello and violin this is incredibly funny😂 However, I was impressed by the sound they made! Also, I like the way they play cello as if it was a violin😅

I'm surprised you two have never tried this with the mandolin, or at least I couldn't find a video of you trying. It's tuned the same as a violin so you'll at least be starting from a pretty familiar state. It be interesting to see you play a strummed instrument rather than a bowed one.

Yeah I am an adult beginner of mandolin and I really want to see this… I spent months learning tremolo lol and want to see people suffer. I am afraid that for violinists, instruments with frets are just… out of tune all the time…

Brett is the kind of musician/student who puts himself down constantly when comparing himself to others, but does amazing just out of sheer talent/instinct.

Nicole Sim He definitely seems more of tactile learner, so he can catch on pretty quickly when he’s actually playing the instrument.

Yeah he seems like he's not getting it & than he nails it. He trust his hands & focuses on the sheet. Brett is a sight reading machine and Eddy can hear if they're off, they're a perfect team!

@Diana Espinoza-O'Donnell *Cygne, but you're right, it means "swan". 😊 They were laughing because he mispronounced it... like pretty much every foreign word or name they try to pronounce ! 😅 For those who don't know, "Le Cygne" (The Swan) is an excerpt from "Le Carnaval des Animaux" (The Carnaval of the Animals), which was written "for fun" by the French composer Saint-Saëns. There are fourteen movements in this composition, each one representing a different animal or animals (including the famous "Swan"). 🤗
