We Turned a SEMA Built 996 LS Swaps Exhaust Into A Symphony

Our friend Alex, from @LegitStreetCars , bought himself a problem… This SEMA-built LS swapped 996 has a handful of issues, but we’re focused on this seriously questionable exhaust construction. Besides the issue of sound and craftsmanship, this exhaust runs so close to the starter it causes it to overheat - leaving poor Alex stranded until it cools off. As luck would have it, he remembered our knack for crafty exhaust solutions and gave us a call. Now, we could have done what he asked and simply moved things around, but that's not how we roll at FMU. We strive for excellence, creating exhaust systems that have gearheads from around the world with their jaws on the floor. Our setups have worked wonders on LS motors and Porsches before, but this specific combo provided a challenge which is an opportunity we can’t resist. Knowing Alex never backs down from a wicked-sounding upgrade, it didn’t take much convincing for him to let us set it up how we wanted. You’re not going to believe how this thing ended up sounding.

@legitstreetcars buddy I have a 997 LS3 Twin Turbo ( with your favorite Comp turbos ) all through titanium exhaust. It sounds insane with all the turbo noise you can think of. I was excited to see the exaust video. Man, guys at fluid knocked it out of the park !!!

Hey FMU, there are guys on Alex’s channel saying he needs a different oul pan to keep the LS alive in this application. Know anything about that?

Misspelled oil 😝

No reason to replace the pan where installing a baffle will accomplish keeping oil where it’s needed. Besides, this power level is no where near strong enough to have the acceleration G’s to pull all the oil backwards out of the sump. Cornering Gs would put it to the side with some still near the pick up, so a nice aftermarket baffle will be more than enough for the street driving Alex will be doing this 996.

Making sure that the exhaust system accommodates all the elements of the vehicle. I realize that the factory original can be modified for better efficiency and reliability. Not overdone but still good. Modified versions are better than factory original at times. The science behind this one was the best example of how to make it better. Kudos to Fluid Motor Union!❤

Nice work guys Simple exhaust design. Sounds slightly higher pitched but cleaner sounding.. . Its clear! to me that the original builders of this car were just getting it built as a "show car " with no real consideration for actual daily use.. .. Definitely a difficult job considering the space constraints...
