Amanda said it seems that it might be too hard to film a cooking video, but I think that would be the easy part, since she knows what she's doing! The hard part would be the Editing, knowing what to keep in & how to not be too long/boring! I'm thinking that they have enough cats, dogs & donkeys, that it couldn't possibly be boring but maybe too long for some people😂❤!!! (Not me)

I’ve never made split pea soup as I didn’t like our traditional french Canadian pea soup as a child, it looked very brown. But my aunt used to make a “potage St-Germain” with green peas that I remember as being slightly sweet and absolutely delicious 🤤. I see that your peas are green, so I wonder if yours is something like that? I kinda remember it being more of a purée though. I’ve never had Potage St-Germain again since she passed away. I should really look up a recipe. Fall time is absolutely soup time for me.

Love the cooking segment. It’s so lovely that you did it outside over a fire. So sorry to hear your daughters caught the lovely sickness. 🤒 I agree with you 100% with making your own vegetable stock or chicken stock. Right now I started making chicken stock for my daughter’s 17-year-old super grumpy arthritis Kitty. If you do not like the type of fruit that is in your garden, the tree needs to be changed. Thank you so much for the time and effort you put into all your videos. It’s greatly appreciated Lincoln and Amanda. ❤ Gorgeous drone views, as always.

The pine trees in your estate are beautiful. There is a pine tree at 0:28 that is just perfect! Lincoln, and the dog, are walking just in front of it. I'm wondering if you put any Christmas decorations on this tree or plan to once you are completely settled. It is such a beautiful tree! I don't know the name of the species. Thanks for this episode. I live in the city and it's nice to just see nature and hear nature.

Wow! Lots of chestnuts! We haven't had a very good year, not even 40% of last year's harvest. At the supermarkets, they go as high as 9-10 euros per kilo! My mother-in-law would cook tens of kilos of chestnuts, we would all join and peel them and then put them through a potato masher. We freezed them and made cakes and deserts all winter. I'm from the Istrian peninsula, north Adriatic in Croatia.

What is the difference between chestnut, horse chestnut & buckeye? They all look alike & I live in Ohio, the buckeye state, where I've been told, don't eat them they're poisonous😢! But they do look the same before opening the shell!

Someone else in the comments suggested grafting a different, more desirable pear to the established existing root system, idk if that's doable but worth checking into, if the roots aren't damaging the wall!

Re cutting down fruit trees: you might consider grafting a more productive varietal onto the plum tree you don't like, so you can make use of the established root system of the existing tree.

I always have to chuckle with the subtlety of the narration 🙃 The drone shots are gorgeous. Of course, being a native Californian, I always blink to double-check I'm seeing correctly when I see such green grass. We could sure use some green grass and rain here as we are currently experiencing Santa Ana or also called Diablo winds. The winds aren't too bad at present, but the humidity was as low as 9%, definitely not what the Bay Area is used to, but definitely an accident waiting to happen for a fire to start and did in the Oakland Hills. So far, it's 50% contained. It was 33 years ago yesterday (1991) when the Oakland Hills had the big fire. The weather has cooled here a bit also. I also got ingredients for soup, and need to make broth with all the chicken bones I've been saving. Of course, I'm also checking on all the things that need to get done outside before the Atmospheric River Rains come....... and people say there's no climate change? I don't remember rains like that growing up. Always something to do.🔨🪛🔧🪚🧹🧯🪠🔩🗒🔦

I also remember the dog days of summer, where August was the hottest month! And there are nowhere near as many lightning bugs or butterflies as when I was little! Probably it's my age but it seems that summers have gotten a lot shorter and less hot, as well as winters have less snow! I'm in Ohio, right on the lake...

Oh, are those long stem flowers the cosmos? I planted a bag of wild flowers, which very little arose out of the dirt, until lately and it is bunches of those. My plantar box is an old sink. lol Hey, with rocks surrounding it I see art. Caught a bee sucking and bathing on one large white flower among the varieties of pink, its last supper perhaps? Made me sad but in awe of nature. Love your chef cutting skills! The soup looked heavenly.
