Over the years of being something of an Anglophile, I've noticed that British English speakers like Luke have a rather smooth and melodic flow to their voices that we American's don't. Our speech is flatter and harder sounding.

Dear Tee, Its just natural that you start to speak like the people around you if you live there and interact every day. Truly, its not fake, you just pick it up naturally. And its delightful to be able to blend in. Who wants to go thru life with a big, loudmouth American label stuck on their chest? No thanks! You don't sing the same song all the time do you? Play with language! It's delightful, fun, and skillful and makes people feel more comfortable with you. Besides that, it makes your mouth feel fun, too! You should have heard me after two years in England! Eight in India! etc. We are all chameleons!

I've already subscribed to Mapperton Live. I am so excited. I am an American (San Francisco) lady who has loved, researched, read British history for over 25 years. I am probably the only American who can actually name the monarchs from 1066. Seriously, that is either love or the beginnings of OCD. Love the channel. And I love the Earl and Countess of Sandwich and of course I had read all about the 4th from extensive reading of the 18th century. What a team you have! I can't wait for more.

Hehehe. My BF is British and I'm American, and I talk kind of like her and don't get to the point quickly enough for him. I can sense his anxiousness. I see it in my boyfriend. Hehehe. She mentioned during her interview with Megan Kelly one of the surprising things she learned was holding the fork with the left hand and knife on the right. Believe me that is not an aristocracy thing. I think that is an overall British thing influenced by the Aristocracy perhaps because my boyfriend had to teach me how to eat like that. And he is not of the aristocracy.
