Tori's got such a beautiful smooth tone to her voice. In this cover she actually irons out the sharpness that Karen sang. To my ear Tori's voice was a more pleasing experience. The similarities are uncanny but with those subtle differences.

Adding the video parts of instruments playing is a cool concept! The best part, is her voice. It's 98.5694837% there! Maybe Karen's music ability was reincarnated in Tori? A Richard Carpenter Tori session would be awesome. I bet if Richard hears this, it will be very emotional and difficult yet uplifting.

There will never be another Karen. On "Goodbye To Love" she sings TWENTY SIX SYLLABLES ON ONE BREATH!!! And a lot of those are chromatics!!!! Another recent absolutely stunning Carpenters cover is "Superstar" by "Leonid & Friends". Even more astounding considering that the singer (and nearly all the band) is RUSSIAN.

Of all of the covers of Karen, I have to put Tori as number 01 so far. Cheers for Tori - and the whole team! - Actually, Paul Williams wrote the song for Crocker Bank in 1970. When I first saw and heard the commercials in 1971 - I liked it. Paul Williams was the singer on the commercial, but when Richard heard it - he was able to get a hold of Paul... and the rest is history!

Hi Jesse, I’m Joe a friend of Ron’s. He told me you just reacted/reviewed Tori and Jim’s newest. Glad you liked it. This is their first full collaboration. Jim saw an earlier Tori video of The Bacharach/David Medley and felt it needed more “Richard.” So he added more and a friendship and collaboration was born. This is the result when start they from scratch. Jim and Tori to my knowledge are the audio engineers. This was a Jim run project and Tori has an abundance of self produced short videos and one full length, The B/D Medley. You pronounced her name well, the first one, soft vowels. I followed Ron’s link to the video, I don’t see it on your main page? I guess I’m early. I’ll be passing along the link I have, I hope that’s OK. I’ll link the Medley with Jim as Tori loved what he did. So everything on the right side Tori produced, fully except the music track. She did ALL the voices then Jim added himself and joined the videos. He triple tracked to match Tori’s version. It’s a hoot. Enjoy it! I subscribed and will be exploring. She also has her own KZbin chanel where she explains how the carpenters used to do their own backing vocals and how she has tried to use many of the components. Hundreds of thousands... conservatively. Not to mention high school proms, graduations and New Year's Eve parties as well. As a gigging musician playing in bands from the mid-1970's through 2020 I'll tell ya that only 'Happy Birthday' got more plays over those years. I've never heard a better cover version than Tori's.

Actually its the style and vibrato of Karen is almost similar. I still hear her real voice in most part. The low notes is almost similar, the high notes I can hear mostly Tori's voice. Tori still needs to replicate the singing nuances of Karen. But overall Tori made a fantastic rendering of Karen's style and voice. Maybe if Tori used the same sound equipment when Karen recorded the song, we could totally hear the similarity of Tori's voice to Karen.

@jesp-pctech9196 Tori’s Blue mic is about $200. A Neumann U87 is about $3500 (Karen’s dominant mic). I argued with Jim that two cans and some string and he could save some expenses and she’d still sound great. Oh and check out more of Tori’s shorts. Gurl knows every “Karenism” down pat. This song didn’t feature them as much. Her short (on Instagram) of Close To You, is in full Karen “Homage” mode. Every nuance is in place. One more goosebump moment. On Instagram while you’re there. Look up Rainy Days and Mondays. Sung into a EarPods mic with Jordan on piano, in a split screen. After you watch that. Check the comments and especially one from @paulielama2.

Your suspicion, you will find, is incorrect. As well as @ToriHolub outright saying that there's no autotune or effects other than reverb in comments elsewhere, @wingsofpegasus has actually done _two_ analysis videos of this showing with pitch graphs that there's zero pitch correction going on here at all. It's uncorrected voice, multitracked and overlaid, intentionally done the way (or as close as, given that this is modern equipment rather than tape machines) that the Carpenters themselves did it in the studio.

Wings of Pegasus did the breakdown and overlayed Tori and Karen for pitch charting. No auto tune. Subtle differences are obvious when directly compared, but this woman is for real.

Everything I am saying is based on my own opinion.. something here doesn't seem right.. I've studied many youtubers that have been profiling this wonderful girl , & man their praise of her is way too over the top ,but Something don't feel right.. when a bunch of channels jump on the bandwagon i gotta take a step back... like chill out peeps stop with the love bombing. it's biologically impossible for a voice to sound like someone else or very similar to someone else in the natural world. voices are like finger prints. I do admit she does have that Karen sound, or more to say the vocal style ,but it's a style.. but when she's not singing ,& just talking ,she doesn't sound like Karen. She doesn't have Karen's voice ,but she does have Karen's style.. Maybe if she's Karen's daughter ,& shared her genetics, well then mother & daughter could have similar vocal training in this day & age who knows what is going on.. whoever trained this girl on how to emulate Karen's style did a fine job.. the trouble I am having is so many youtubers are making her out to be the next Karen.. I dunno if this girl can go far in the music world with that title.. maybe it's best for her to create her own style & try to be a lot less than Karen.. she's gonna end up type casting herself.. like I had said it's very creepy how so many youtubers jumping on her bandwagon I'd love to her some of her original creations to get a better idea of her style..

I agreed with you. Tori has beautiful voice and Tori needs to have her own style simply because people who loves Karen's singing will always loves Karen and no one else. People will appreciate Tori's voice being similar to Karen, but in doing so, its Karen that's mostly benefits. If I am going to choose which I am going to listen with the same song between Tori an Karen, of course I will choose Karen because she's the original and I know most people will do so.

If you go to Tori's channel, she's got some original material, plus some covers of other artists. She's not an "impressionist," but she does have an interesting ability for creating similar sounds as she's singing. She's also only 20, so she's got plenty of time to continue to develop her own sound.
