I spent a few days in Istanbul last year, ate at Nusr-et twice. It's the same food, just much more affordable, especially at the current exchange rate. You could fly to Istanbul on Pegasus Airlines from Stansted, get a 5* hotel for the night, eat that exact same meal and still have a few hundred pound in change to splurge at the designer village next to the airport, the grand bazaar or the dozens of excellent baklava stores. For those of you who aren't millionaires and spending a large chunk of your salary just for the "experience", you'd probably get more memories out of a weekend in Istanbul. Fair enough, it's not going to be the "big man" feeding you, just some clone. But that's offset by the fact you can eat at the original Nusr-et restaurant. Plus the big man will soon be out of London when the weather gets cold anyway!

Everyone has this misconception that Istanbul is cheaper. Yes it is cheaper but that Is because don’t use Wagyu beef in Istanbul. The restaurants in Turkey all use local meat. He owns a number of farms in Turkey. Wagyu beef is only used is Dubai, UK, USA and Mykonos.
@Nick-cp2jh3 жыл бұрын
@@HoggiSami It's just cheaper generally at the current exchange rate. For comparison, the Nusr-et special sushi is £7 in Istanbul and £23 in London. The dish looks identical. A Coca Cola is £9 and a Red Bull £11 in London. A soft drink was less than £2 in Istanbul. I'm absolutely certain they could do 2 days (1 night) in Istanbul including a 5* hotel room and return flights on Pegasus + eating at Nusr-et (a very similar meal, if not for Wagyu) and have a chunk of change from £900 for sure.
@Injectz3 жыл бұрын
@@HoggiSami what type of wagyu does he use? There is also a miss conception that all wagyu beef is very expensive. Even if he was using kobe A5 grade wagyu, it should still not amount to this ridiculous prices. There are much better steak houses in London, at the fraction of the cost. This just once again demonstrates how utterly brainwashed and stupid the human race can be.

Anyone getting outraged at the prices then you're clearly not their target audience. This place is for people who don't even look at the prices. They've probably thought it's better to have one table spending 2 grand on a meal than 10 tables spending 200 quid. They can give each and every customer their full attention. It makes no difference what so ever if its value for money, most people spend money they don't need to every day, some people just do it on a bigger scale. The fact is it shuts down if they don't get the customers in.

Great review - really appreciated the balance and honesty. Salt Bae is a butcher by origin, so it's not surprising that he knows his meat, but he clearly needs someone who'll give the same sort of love to the vegetables. And while a bit of theatricality is fine and fun - we eat with all our senses, after all - there was way too much fussing and faffing about. That's more like invasion of personal space. As for feeding food to me, I wouldn't accept anyone doing that except my wife, a nurse (if I was incapable) or, when I was toddler, my mother. End of!

Excellent review ... Well that's cured restaurant envy ! I saw nothing new or exceptional on the plate .. In fact, I would have felt completely patronized by the over the top antics going on around your table ! I felt your comments after being "fed" steak summer it all up up really .. Great review thank you

Great review, i think you sold me Sheesh more than this place, now personally i recently ate from "Steak on the green" in ealing. Absolute banger. shame "the meat co." have closed there branch in london but that was another favourite

The way they do all the faffing about with them knives, tapping them on the plate and on the food for no reason just does my head in. Absolute cringe and unbearable to watch.

Well done for taking the hit so others don't have to. But yeah...the theatre and location is what your paying for, not just gold things.

Been watching your vids for a few weeks but this one made me sub. Worked in two michelin starred restaurants and the one thing I fucking hate more than anything else is pretension. I reckon this review was spot-on.

I chose the lecture room and library over this place, I am so glad i did. We literally had a 3 Michelin star meal cheaper. People will figure out soon enough it’s a gimmick.

Nice review Matt 👍 glad you had the chance to experience it, personal opinion but I think he’s too overrated which is down to social media/celebrities, as you stated there’s many more places to go instead i.e (sheesh)

I've got salt in my socks...hahaha. Great review. Seems as though the food was good. Yes, it's VERY overpriced but some of that is for the "experience" (if one doesn't want the experience, don't go there). Ultimately the price is whatever anyone is prepared to spend. Salt Bae is smart with his image, name, branding, memes and he's tapping into the culture we currently live in (style over substance) where some people just want to say "I've been to Salt Bae/Nusr Et", post their photos...and no doubt, in some cases, boast they bought the ridiculously priced Gold Tomahawk. Even if his success is short lived, he's made his millions.

I've been to the restaurant a few times now, excellent service and great food. I honestly don't know people complaining about price. I don't spend my money on alcohol as I don't drink but treat myself to nice restaurants

I know people who don’t earn that a month that’s why, that steak would probably cost about 40 quid

@@Zizoosworld aye your obviously quite well off though a mean I’m not skint but I could never justify paying 700 bar for a thirty quid steak it’s just daylight robbery , especially with that cringey dork playing with my meat while tryna eat it 😂
