Another great video Lee, talking about cinemas, when I left school I trained to be a projectionist. Which were the good old days, so many cinemas have closed down it is heart breaking. I miss the old Westlers hot dogs, Butterkists popcorn and the usherette we used to play with.

Loved the video. I lived on Coronation St Blackpool, but Central Drive was my home turf throughout the 60s to mid-70s. There were very little in drugs in those days, but quite a few gangs. I went to Revoe School and got a good few beatings back then, new kid on the block, so to speak, I knew nobody. I took up ju-jitsu and put it into practice with great effect, I was earned respect from those who used to beat and Rob me. Just a point about cinema's in the Blackpool area. Here is a list of those I remember. Lost Cinemas Blackpool areas lost cinema's that no longer exist. The Odeon Cinema on Dickson Road, ABC on Church Street, Rendezvous Cinema was in Bond Street, Regent was Fleetwood 's last cinema, Palladium Cinema in Waterloo Road, Ritz Cinema Central Promenade jtn Chapel St ABC Hippodrome in Church Street Regent Cinema Regent Rd/Church St The Imperial Cinema in Dickson Road closed 1961 King Edward Pictures in Central Drive, The Palace Cinema Garden Street and St George's Road, St Annes, Empire Cinema Hawes Side Ln The Tivoli Clifton St, The Oxford Oxford Sq, The Princess Promenade opposite the Metropole, The Opera House Church St, The Palace Picture Pavilion closed in 1961, the last movie I saw there was "Ben Hur" I was six years old back then. The building was knocked down and Lewis's store was built on the site. The Royal Pavilion Rigby Rd near the Promenade. and finally The Orion Theatre which was located on the Crescent West and Runnymede Avenue, Cleveleys. ALDI now sits on the site. All these gone forever, so sad.

I can remember Blackpool during the 70's with all the B&B's saying no vacancies. Sad to see that like most towns it has suffered the effects of recent times and few customers for the ones that are still open. £20.90 was not cheap for the small amount of breakfast, how times have changed., the back street cafe's used to be great value. Hope you are both keeping safe and well.

Hi Lee Sunny Southport by the sea has a public restroom that was underground that is a bar now, when I went last summer it was surreal because I remember when it was a toilet before I moved to the USA (NJ) lol When I walked around Liverpool last summer the streets were desserted just like Blackpool looks take care

Born and bred on the Fylde Coast I'm still drawn back to enjoy some of it's hidden natural beauty that your average tourists doesn't know about such as Rossall Point Watch Tower were you can see Bottlenose Dolphins at certain times of the year. Sadly as with many coastal towns there's far too much poverty and deprivation. You're in Lancashire so get used to seeing the word Barm , when we go South they're a Roll....I've worked all over the UK and somewhere on my travels they were called Flower Cakes but for the life of me I can't remember where that was. In all honesty I can't say I was that impressed with the breakfasts but do have a tendency towards farm shop cafés and expect that little extra considering the cost of things today. Cheers for the vlog , very enjoyable 👍

Use to stop with my Auntie Dina in the 70s, think it was Ribble Road or Belmont Ave, There was a shop down on Central Drive the used to sell Esso Blue Paraffin, remember the owner giving me a flexi record with a song advertising Esso Blue, drove my Auntie nuts as I played it over & over. The Joke shop on Central used to be my favourite, lots of stuff to keep a 7/8yr old amused

I've only ever been to Blackpool twice. First time in the 1950s with my parents for a one week holiday when I was about 10 or 11. The only memory from that holiday was seeing Ken Dodd at a theatre. He was hilarious and I almost fell out of my seat laughing. Second time was in 2002 when I was driving for a minibus company and took a hen party up from Oxfordshire. I just turned round and drove back but I had to pick them up three days later and arrived a bit early, parked up and walked part of the Golden Mile. Just shops and kiosks selling expensive tat. After eating a mediocre cheeseburger I collected the hen party from their hotel around 1pm. Needless to say they'd all been boozing since after breakfast which made the drive back to Oxfordshire somewhat interesting with plenty of boob flashing at cars and coaches!

we struggle for one specific "most dangerous street" in Grange though if you hang around the cocktail lounges in some of the better care homes then it can kick off. Some of the more louche dandies go on the pull with the wealthy widows in their snake-skin boots and the green-eyed monster can raise its crazy head.

Central Drive really is looking tired and run down, it’s had it’s day unfortunately and the whole area is in dire need of regeneration. That breakfast looked pretty good for both of you but Stephen looked a little uncomfortable and tensed doing his thumbnail oooh and aaah! I remember those Pearl & Dean ads at the cinema. If you ever go to Crystal Palace in London go to No.9 Upper Parade (there is something very unique about the property other than to say conveniently located). Nice vlog as ever between you both perhaps this could become a regular thing between you.

Do any other Blackpool natives remember a place called something like "Edrick's Nosh House" on Cheapside (😂) next to the Natwest bank? The portions were so huge that Edrick would literally be squashing them down with his hand so everything stayed on the plate. A classy place! Top scran though, and err... cheap! Mixed emotions watching the video. Born and raised in Blackpool but not been back for over 10 years. Some great memories but it really is a sad looking place now.

Lovely video ... As you said, it is a shame there are no cinemas in Blackpool currently where there were a few years ago. I recall being in Blackpool as a kid with my parents and going to see the latest Bond film at the time, in the cinema which is now Funny Girls. I'd never thought of it until Stephen mentioned it about there being no green spaces or trees there, and it's so glariingly true unfortunately. The breakfast was basic and cheap so you can't really complain, I'd eat there myself, it looks nice enough and reasonably priced. Your breakfast cob looked nice AND the cob was buttered, which makes a nice change. There were no tomatoes on Stephen's meal, or maybe he doesn't like them, i don't know, did they do tinned one's?

Lee, Garton may have invented HP Sauce on Milton Street, Nottingham, and made and sold successfully for years from the city, but he was, for some reason, in debt to his vinegar supplier in Aston, Birmingham and sold the name and rights to them for £150. Most people over 30 will remember the HP factory in Aston. The logo atop the factory's tower dominated the area and Villa fans and supporters from away teams will have seen it regularly. Losing the factory was a huge blow to the area's morale. Garton also cheekily made something called Worcester Sauce, not to be confused with Worcestershire Sauce, the original and best, made by Lea and Perrins in Worcester to this day. Incidentally, Garton also made Daddies Favourite Sauce, still on sale in 2023
