My favorite bit in the movie (aside from The Banana Boat Song scene): Adam: What are your qualifications? Beetlejuice: Ah. Well...I attended Juilliard. I'm a graduate of the Harvard business school. I travel quite extensively. I lived through The Black Plague and had a pretty good time during that. I've seen The Exorcist about *167 times, AND IT KEEPS GETTING FUNNIER EVERY SINGLE TIME I SEE IT!!!! NOT TO MENTION THE FACT THAT YOU'RE TALKING TO A DEAD GUY!!!!* Now what d'ya think? So glad you liked it. Loved it since the day of it's release. You missed a couple things, the money on the counter at the hardware store wasn't trust. It says Maitland Hardware above the door & he had the key. He's the shop keeper, & it's closed while he's on vacation. (Small town life.) & "She's still upset because somebody dropped a house on her sister" is a reference to The Wizard of Oz, (Spoiler) Somebody drops a house on a sister who's a... Wicked Witch.

@@Morrison64 The part I like is he's so honest, he won't even steal from his own store. He leaves the money on the counter & he'll ring it up when he reopens. Inventory has to be accounted for, the books have to balance. *** & I should correct The Wizard of Oz, (Spoiler) Somebody dropped a house on a wicked witch's, sister. & By saying that, he's insulting her, insinuating she's a wicked witch.. 'Somebody dropped a house on her sister.'

I learned, recently, alot of adults, that grew up in 2000, never saw "Beetlejuice". The sequel is getting those adults to watch the original. People like me that grew up in the 90s have seen it, making the sequel nostalgic.

Awesome thing to note, time on Titan(called Saturn in this one)is longer, given the length that Adam was missing when he left to retrace their steps. Meaning Barbara tamed that Sandworm really damn fast! She IS the Kwisatz Haderach! Lol, I love the ending scene in the waiting room. BJ touching the half ladies legs and getting smacked, him crossing to the Headhunter and beginning to talk before the Hunter visibly ignores him and BJ notices. The enormous number and the counter being very low, but also only going to double digits. BJ stealing the number from the Witch Doctor, the Witch Doctors deadpan expression, reaching into his pouch and not even looking at BJ as he sprinkles him, with BJ's voice getting higher as his head shrinks. "WhoooAAAA! Hey....this might be a good look for me..."

I’ve heard that it was because of the success of Beetlejuice that Michael Keaton was also cast to play Bruce Wayne/Batman a year later in Tim Burton’s Batman movie in 1989 which is one of many reasons why i love this movie!

I had a neighbor worst then Jane she not only believed the not a family if you don't have kids but said another of our neighbors were not a real family because there kids were adopted that only having children by birth is the only way to be a true family. Glad I no longer live near her.

One minor problem with the film. When they're digging up Betelgeuse, the cardboard they dig through has text on it that's way too small. It's sized for them in the model, not them in real life.

I LOVE this movie i just watched this movie not that long ago actually to prepare for Beetlejuice 2 cause we saw that in theatres, the first movie was my second time watching it this time round and the first time i watched it too, i was so exciting for Beetlejuice 2 to come out no spoilers by the way, but it’s a really good movie it was so good. I cannot wait until it drops on digital so i can rewatch it again and i am hoping you guys will react to the second Beetlejuice it’s just so good. I'm writing that my name is Josh and i've been reading online that Beetlejuice Beetlejuice will have an official 4K HD digital release on Tuesday October 8, 2024. the digital release will also include special features including a second version of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice with an audio commentary by Tim Burton. this means that everybody at home can do first time watching videos for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice beginning on Tuesday October 8, 2024. I can really confirm that there won't be deleted and extended scenes to be included on the 4K Bluray and DVD release on Tuesday November 19, 2024. that might be the exact same day that Beetlejuice Beetlejuice becomes available to stream on MAX.

DAAAAAAY-O! Glad you're watching this movie in honor of the sequel! Seen it myself and it was great! Fun fact: most of this movie was filmed in East Corinth, Vermont, so you can theoretically go and visit the Maitlands house if you want to! They have a great Halloween scene up there because of this movie! 5:53 The common "trend" on social media right now is to say that the Maitlands should have survived that fall and get confused when it's shown that they died. For one thing, even though they had seatbelts and an open window, the fall alone should kill them. 9:19 "[The dad] doesn't seem the nicest." ...You have NO idea. He was caught for kiddy diddling, so they killed him off in the sequel. 9:29 Not just an icon. She set the standard. Shes an icon, a legend and the moment. Still iconic all these years later. I lowkey wanted Winona Ryders hat and black veil. She nailed that look! 10:09 That because he's the same VA as the mayor in Nightmare before Christmas! Catherine O'Hara also played Sally. Because this movie is totally 80s, most of the ghosts have practical effects on them. I'd like to imagine that someone, somewhere, has the prop at 10:48 as a really gnarly Halloween decoration!

Lydia is not emo, so many reactors say this, but emo didn't exist back in the 80s, she is a goth or proto goth at least. emo as a subculture is basically a cheap annoying rip off of goth which became popular in the 2000s.

That whole bit at early on with the Maitlands' car calling off a bridge and them gradually realizing they're dead is all one big homage to the movie _Carnival of Souls_ , which has that as the main plot of the movie. I guess I just spoiled _Carnival of Souls_ for you, sorry about that, Timm. Regardless, they catch on a lot quicker and take it a lot better than the protagonist of that movie did.

It’s Show Time ! 👻 - While Michael Keaton is fantastic as Betelgeuse (named after the star in the constellation Orion) fun fact Tim Burton wanted Sammy Davis Jr. to play him, but Producer David Geffen suggested Keaton instead - Anjelica Huston (known for playing Morticia in the Addams Family movies) was originally going to play Delia Deetz, but couldn’t due to an illness - This movie inspired a cartoon spinoff but there is a huge difference from the movie with Betelgeuse being the protagonist who is friends with Lydia while there is no Adam & Barbara, & then they made a musical based on this as well where Betelgeuse is played by Alex Brightman
