True story. I once had the girl scouts come to my house and they had a booklet of cookies and explained that we could purchase any cookies and in a week we would get them. They also explained that the school is gathering money so that they could help with after school programs for the kids. Realistically this is basically a higher-than-average budget anime (by a studio that specializes in anime.) made specifically for an adult American audience, so it lacks a lot of the qualities that non-anime fans dislike or can't overlook. I mean this specific episode of The Boondocks was inspired by and parodies Pacino's and De Palma's SCARFACE and the iconic scenes with Montana's boss and confronting him and the insane pulpy, cheesy, campy sho0t0ut spree and the scene with Riley and Cindy parallels Montana and his sister and him finding out the money was stolen and cucked and used irresponsibly and impulsively, leading to the downfall of Tony Montana who Riley is basically embodying. It's Based and Insane and very anime and comic-book-y vibes.
