@@KirstenJoerg It's sad the bakeries in the UK are disappearing. And I thought, at least in England, you could have almost everything your heart desires. Wouldn't it be nice if there was a bakery in which you could buy a bread or two from your own country? With so much foreigners living there, I think that would be amazing.

Here in Britain I remember in the fifties and sixties we had plenty of bakeries, and I remember shopping with my mum and we always bought a wimberry tart for after tea, you don't see wimberries anymore, they seem to have disappeared, and you could buy cottage loaves fresh from the oven and still hot, and we would have a big wedge of it with butter when we got home, we had some lovely bakeries then, what happened to them all, we have lost interest in quality bread in this country, if we can't get our shopping all under one roof from a supermarket we don't want to shop around, I would go back to those times in a heartbeat, everything tasted better, even meat, the bakeries in Germany look just like what I remember here years ago, beautiful, and such a pride in their products, thanks Kirsten and Joerge xx

True even the 70s there family high bakers still baking fresh bread all day with a big queue on Saturday .... My dad a few doors down selling veg, celery that came in boxes of sooty soil with leaves on it, Brussels sprouts tops, and fresh boiled beetroots, trimmed parsnips, caulis ... a leafy aroma !!

I agree with you. We go through the same thing here in the United States we have no good bakeries they sell baked goods in supermarkets nothing homemade. And food does not taste the same even our produce is nasty tasting most of our farms are gone produce comes from other countries even bananas do not taste like 🍌 YUK. SO I agree strongly with this comment.
