I used “leashes” on my children. When they were younger I did it for safety. Oftentimes, we held hands. I used one leash with the harness when they were younger. Then a wristband for me lease attached to their wristband for them when they were older. We are an African-American family. I know that often times unfortunately children are taken or something may happen to them and you’re not there to to govern what’s going on. Or I need both of my hands to complete a task. We were sometimes ridiculed for our decision to use this method but I was doing what was best for my family.

I probably was one of the confused people when I saw the leashes on the kids buuuuuutt after our crazy day that one fall evening at the fair with these kids I knew I needed some sort of a leash because they want a bit of independence so holding hands all the time wasn’t an option. We definitely don’t regret it

I do the handcuff leash with my son. It has keys and can be locked to his wrist and the other side is strapped to my wrist. He can go up to 8 feet away on the one I use. I love them.
