I'm actually glad that they had the bodyguards there. If you notice in some of the fancams Billboard allowed fans to come up the isles (Jones Brothers Performance for example) and you can see BTS "Fans" with BT21 headbands (and some with not) but they had their phones in Jimin's face, then the bodyguards got in between. All the "fans" did was stare, have their phones in their faces, and some tired to touch them (not OK). Also, on a side note, as an American I hate the way "we" (others) organize events. They are so unorganized! It drives me crazy. Love your channel and appreciate the honesty. Sometimes I disagree and sometimes I agree, that's the beauty of it. I am hoping this will be focused more on the positive side of things - the fact that BTS won 2 BBMAs, adding to their now total of 4 (historic). I am guessing this is about the body guards...smh - (I could be wrong). We know and it is for their own safety! My thinking is that, although unfortunately BTS cannot enjoy their freedom like other artists because the fact is that the crowd were majorly there for BTS. So all that was to avoid any issues because of past threats to their lives again and again, etc... BigHit probably can't control the BBMAs crowd entirely, so they had to control what happens in the close vicinity of BTS. During the Jonas brothers performance we saw what happened and I am glad the security did their job, that said, I do wish BBMAs didn't bring in so many 'hype' audience next to BTS.

BTS they still have a lot of chances to interact with other artists, such as backstage. US award shows are different from Korea, in US, artists & audiences or fans are mixed together at the same place, so this pose danger to BTS. That's why they need security to surround them during breaks because everyone is trying to get close to them. Regarding popularity in US or penetrating the US market, it is getting better & better. Not everyone in Korea able to recognize BTS, US population is way lot bigger than Korea, so how do you expect everyone knows them. Tbh I understand them having such a tight security. Most of the crowd at the BBMAs is ARMYs, even the seat fillers and the audience they had to hype for like in jonas brother's performance, most of them were also ARMYs so you can never be too alert. Pretty sure the boys get that too and they always enjoy themselves at such events regardless of the bodyguards so it's all good. And they meet artists easily, the security clearly doesn't pose a problem with that. There were so many who approached them and took pictures with them, interacted with them and through past BBMA & AMA bangtan episodes that we get with behind the scenes, we have seen them meet so many artists, some of them that they are friends with now like halsey & khalid, their collab with chainsmokers came from them meeting with them on BBMAs and so many other interactions happen backstage.

I think the body guards were needed, the way they were getting crowded every commercial break ? sometimes it's too much and it's better to stay safe than sorry. Also BTS are getting mainstream but the xenophobia and racism ( even unintentional ) is still there but our boys are breaking barriers part by part, one day we'll get there, so let's keep trying Oh and don't worry, the boys got to talk to lots o artists, Terry Crews the Jonas Brothers, Khalid Edit: I gotta add this, what you twi said at the end, basically implying that BigHit is holding off BTS from making personal connections with other artists, and them deciding with who they wanna work for, and * caging * them with bodyguards is dangerous and can be taken extremely out of context, because then you're implying that the boys are puppets, when they obviously showed they're not, THEY are the ones who decide who they work with based on the music, so I hope you don't disregard this and clarify what you said.

A bit disappointed with this vlog. I was expecting more on the bbmas. It was a historical moment. I'm clarifying a few things. You're forgetting BTS has received threats in the states before, a tight security was needed for big events like these. Security were checking ids. sorry to say this, no shade but a lot of mid tier celebs and youtubers have tried to take pictures with BTS in past and brag about it on social media. Security probably knew which celebs were allowed in the area. Most celebs approached BTS without any trouble though. The only time I saw a wall was during Jonas Brothers performance. The dancers were pulling people from the audience and bringing in them to the front. Security was right to be cautious. One girl tried to sneak by and grab Jimin. They were doing their job, why complain? Safety always comes first. One more thing, ARMYs in the pit even interacted with BTS at some point when phones weren't allowed. The boys were comfortable during that time, maybe some of you should consider putting phones down at concerts even if it's just for a few minutes. BTS loves interacting with fans, a lot of eye contact and finger hearts.

If BTS wanna speak more English for their English fans.....let them. It doesn't go against their Speak Yourself message. They're not abandoning their Korean roots. They're trying to better communicate with a LARGE portion of their fanbase. Nothing wrong with that. They also speak Japanese, Chinese, Spanish, and Portuguese (granted it's all broken), when they're in the respective countries. 🤷🏻♀️ Just saying. It makes me respect them more that they care enough about their fans to try and communicate their thoughts and feelings into our primary languages. Also, body guards are a necessary evil. Especially with how big they've gotten and how dangerous Sasaengs are getting. But they do meet a TON of other celebrities backstage. Just check their Twitter and other celebrities' Twitters. They're not missing out on the experience. So, none of this is "sad news." No need to be so negative, Danny and David. Cheer up! 😊🙌🏻

After the BBMA'S I think anybody who has heard of BTS realizes that they have a very diverse fan base. Celebrities who attended their concerts at the Rose Bowl, Chicago, etc, have shared their pictures on Twitter of their fun time at the concert. Nick Jonas, Khalid, Matthew McConaugahey, tv and movie directors were there. The news channels were showing people of all ages at the concert. One of the guys from the band Boyz to Men was on KZbin talking about how great BTS are and calling them the real deal. So don't worry about the boys. They have a LOT of heavy hitters in their corner. Oh yes, they also have friends like James Corden and Jimmy Fallon who have television talk shows. They're very, very loved here in America so don't worry about the few Americans who don't care for them. Those kinds of people are in every country.

And knowing BTS do get threats on their life anyway, it's completely valid they had all those bodyguards and I'm actually glad they had them. I don't think the bodyguards had anything to do with preventing other artists from coming up to them; BigHit know the value of collaborations in the west, they've proven that already and frankly while some collabs are okay I'd much rather they don't try to always do it. Too many people use them and BTS has all the talent they need.

Trump didn't get elected because he's a racist....puhlease. Learn more about American culture and politics before you spout out nonsense.

I meannn a few years back no one (from general population/ non kpop fans) would even care to ask "are you in that kpop band" to a korean whatsoever cuz they dont give a shit to kpop band unless they ARE kpop fans. so when people asked that to you guys, it means they start noticing and having interest towards this very popular kpop band, BTS and what come along with them, which is their nationality; Korean, music, etc. this is big changes that bts brought to the industry as this is a non asian country. and for that, they have all my respect and for me, they HAVE come a long way from where they (& korean music) has started. I'm not a korean yet I'm so proud of them being a korean and are able to mark their presence in the western music industry. no matter what people say to our boys, Army knows their worth and the recognition they deserves 💜

Your kind of seem to have almost an obsession with trying to find sth "sad" or negative. Tbh it's really annoying. BTS talked and interacted with many artists during the show and commercial breaks and they have invited artists they want to get to know better to their dressing room multiple times.

It’s not that the company doesn’t want them to interact with other celebs. We’ve seen they’ve met so many people backstage. It’s the fact that American Award shows allow fans to be right next to the boys. When I mean right next to I mean my mutual who wanted to be right by the stage to see BTS ended up sitting right next to Jungkook. And I mean RIGHT next to him. She was in the row beside him and could of easily reached out and touched him. This is why the bodyguards are necessary. There was one part of the show where they crowd (?) were supposed to go towards the stage and they instantly gravitated towards BTS. If the bodyguards weren’t there they would of been swarmed. It’s unfortunate but it was really necessary.

This video is 2 years old, but I’m just now watching it. It’s crazy how much BTS has grown in popularity since this award show! And I do think there’s still more work to be done. In 2019 I had no clue who BTS was and would have been one of those “clueless” Americans. I’m a middle aged, white, Mom living in southern US. My knowledge of South Korea and KPop was zero until my daughters introduced me to BTS in 2020. And it took about 6 months for me to really get up to speed. I’m all in now, but there are still a lot of people in my peer group who have no idea who BTS is. One by one I’m lovingly educating them 💜!! It takes time to break down barriers, but I think it’s happening!

I've been a bad duck with YT lately because too many has been happening. Been keeping up with Social Medial though. Glad you guys had fun. The disorganisation is one of the main reason I tend to avoid big events like those (and even kpop concerts in Europe). Other than Paris, most of them are always too messy. I'm still trying to get over Infinite's London concert mess 5yrs ago.

Wow I'm actually quite happy to hear they had some form of a gate to slow down the flood of fans each commercial break. I think many Americans still see them as more of a attraction than an artist so I'm glad they or the company take steps to only allow important meetings to happen.

If you watch Grammys you can see that there are no bodyguards for a few reasons. Because it’s only invited guests a bodyguard would not have a seat. But most importantly there are only artists and industry people at the Grammys. Billboard and AMAs allow the public to attend. That when they would need bodyguards because of the fans and there could be scary, crazy people there. To have bodyguards is actually smart.

I don't know why the complaints about how disorganized it was cracked me up so much. Just know that many events in America are actually well organized, even if many are not hahaha. It is a fact that people heard the name of BTS but they do not really sure or clear of how BTS looks..all they know is BTS is global huge popular and know em only by the songs and BTS are asians.. You are right that BTS still have long way to go to get well recognize in american entertainment industry. bcos most of general people don't seems to bother to know how the boys look like.. not to sound shady but this happen to every other Kpop group who appear on the US shows and people only asked.."BTS?", or "u guys r those who won bb?" "Hey look BTS!" (when its other kpop group appear)

BTS comes from a culture where people are reserved. Yes they tour the world and interact with all kinds of people but Americans do not respect celebrity. I don’t blame them for having guards. Many American celebs have guards too. As far as speaking English, good on them. To be vulnerable enough to try to speak in another language is admirable. I get so tired of all the criticism of BTS. Get a life people and respect others.

Actually in fancams artists did come and talk to BTS, body guards were on look out but the boys still chatted with Khalid, Jonas, Terry Crews etc....the body guards only interfered when there were fans brought to the front for the jonas brothers & after their song "sucker" ended these fans were literally beside bts esp jimin & were taking pictures so that's when the bodyguards really surrounded them. In the venue there were only around 8 surrounding them when those girls came close, I think for each member + bangtan bomb girl taking the behind the scenes vids. Each artist has 1 or 2 bodyguard with them (I forgot her name but there was an artist behind bts accompanied by a body guard).

The kind of life BTS lead I don't want that. I can't even imagine what they have to deal with each and everyday. I mean 20 bodyguards, my GOD. Their fans really need to chill. I want them to atleast experience how non celebrities live, going to a cafe and sitting peacefully, or going to park for cycling and reading a book and spending time with their friends and family without getting mobbed by fans. Don't give them expensive gifts, if you want to give them something, just give them the privacy they deserve and that would be the biggest gift for them.
@heroinasytumbas33465 жыл бұрын
They definitely interacted with many celebs during commercial breaks and backstage, the body guards were there mostly for the fans and regular people trying to approach them. Also, I wouldn't use an old white man's unability to tell asians apart as a way to measure BTS' popularity lol.
@-685 жыл бұрын
I don’t think the bodyguards were to keep artists away. I think it was for their protection from like fans and stuff, cz you’ll notice that at BBMAS, sometimes I’ve seen fans kind of go to the front, or some are already somewhere close to the front where the artists are. Plus you’ll notice that during the Jonas Brothers’ performance, ig part of the performance required the fans to come from the back, going to the front, and the bodyguards went to sort of shield them from that. Plus we all know how saesangs can be. And who knows if there where any present at the show so. I feel like they were just there for safety reasons. Also, the artists where going to them. They interacted with them. I don’t think they pick and chose who could and who couldn’t talk to them. Anyway love you guys. Glad you had a great time.

I’m glad they had that amount of security. If you watch fancams of a few performances you can see how the stand in people were just trying to get close to them during that time and were holding up the line because they were just staring and trying to say hi to them. If you fallow their twitter or watched their Vlive the boys were able to meet and have interactions with the artist they admired backstage. also, maybe you just couldn’t see but artist did have a chance to interact with the boys while they were in their seats.
