As a NY native these places start out good but eventually crack apart. They can’t maintain paying those exorbitant rents out there. Clients are there once in a blue moon, or eventually stop going cuz they also don’t care anymore. Internet Cafés was more of Brooklyn thing specifically in Chinatown. Who literally never closed! 24/7 it was definitely crazy up in there, even had smoking sections but don’t use the bathrooms. 😂 Ahh 2010 memories, and then others jumped on the trend but tbh just as those in Brooklyn. They started fading out, plenty was already closing down as people have internet readily available now. Then went out of business completely when covid hit. Some remain but it’s far from what it used to be, and last people who really want to game. Just decided to buy a console or PC with their own set up at home. While these places may be cool, they aren’t up to date with everyone’s specific gaming tastes. So yeah hence why these places eventually switch up. Become more of a restaurant, bar or whatever is the new trend that is bringing in the $$$. Long term it’s never feasible cuz you will be in the negative for sure. So yeah that’s just my little in-depth tour guide, secrets of NY. LoL

@@kimeli why do developed countries still have internet cafes for gaming? I understand going to internet cafes when LAN parties are still a thing but nowadays, competitive games are online and most gamers from developed countries have gaming setups and fast internet connections. On the other hand, I understand having internet cafes in developing countries since there’s a lot of gamers who can’t afford a decent gaming setup and good internet connection.

I never really did understand gaming lounges. I thought they were kind of weird for PC gamer standpoint, because you’d have to download your account assuming you want to track your progression, as well as download the game that you want to play assuming they don’t already have a specific title downloaded. But hearing that it’s only $20 for unlimited access, that’s kind of crazy good.
