The traghetti crossing the Grand Canal are not gondolas (they are built differently, they have two oarsmen, ...) plus the traghetti are an important shortcut for us citizens to cross the Grand Canal. You shouldn't publicize it as a low cost gondola ride (as it isn't) because the only thing you are causing is giant queues for citizens that have to wait half an hour or more to cross over and yes that IS annoying.

It’s not a gondola exactly, but it’s a similar experience. Not sure if you are aware, but everyone knows about this already. Even on a busy Sunday the most you will wait is 5 to 10 minutes.

@@vernonandmaryana @VMTravels You have maybe been lucky for your own ride, but you are not living in the city and don't know the general situation at the traghetti stops, means you are in no position to judge the issues a resident faces. I am living and working in Venice and I had to face waiting times of up to 30 minutes on certain days, even during the week and even at minor traghetto stops (means those not leading to or departing from the Rialto market). If everyone knows about it then why do you talk about it and recommend it in your video? That would be a useless thing to do. I'm well aware that tourists like you read about it on blogs or see KZbin videos recommending a cheap "gondola ride" or taste of it (like you do, calling it a "gondola experience") without considering the issues they cause for who lives and works in the city. Traghetti are part of public transportation, helping to get fast from A to B. They are also used by many elderly people to avoid crossing numerous bridges (amongst others the Rialto Bridge) on their way home or to do groceries. THAT is the purpose of a traghetto, but no it's not a gondola experience.

I’m going in September, specifically for the ghetto. My family lived there for about a century before going on to France/The Netherlands.

Wow! That’s amazing. Definitely try to stay in that area. It’s a unique part of Venice.
