That said, I keep about 12 different beam products on my shelf with Brown Foreman, Barton 1792, Four Roses, Wild Turkey, Jefferson’s Reserve, Uncle Nearest, Woodinville, Makers Mark, Horse Soldier, Heaven Hill and Buffalo Trace. The reason ryes are finished more often than bourbon is because it stands up to maturation better. Corn & wheat are used in budget versions of other whiskey categories as a neutral grain spirit to stretch the malt. In other words corn & wheat take on too much of whatever they are being finished in. In general the philosophy behind a finish is to not be too heavy handed. Agave stands up well to age also. A good exercise for any passionate spirit enthusiast is to isolate & understand each grain individually.

I only have two Booker’s. The ‘21 “Bardstown Batch” and the ‘23 “Very Fine Batch.” Both are really solid, but I completely agree with the guys. There’s A LOT at their price point that punches above. It’s definitely one of the lines that you gotta hear a lot of reviews on first before buying.

Great blind! I enjoy most Booker’s batches, some more than others. I have eleven different batches so far and Country Ham, Pinky’s, and Charlie’s are my favorites. I’m a buyer of each batch because my store owner friend lets me have them for 72.00 bucks each. Cheers!

I used to buy Booker's regularly but haven't since 2000-01. I just don't think they were ever worth the price and have been losing my fondness for most everything from Jim Beam steadily since. Their products just consistently lack sweetness to me. I especially turn my nose away from any and all Baker's 7 Single Barrels and OGD 114. It's just not for me.

Couldn't agree with you more about the price value of Booker's. While there have been a few batches that I really like (Kentucky Tea, Very Fine Batch) for the most part I'd rather get an Elijah Criag BP, 1792 12yr or Full Proof, Knob Creek SB or 12 yr, New Riff SB...all for roughly half the price of Booker's. For $100 a bottle I need to be blown away each and every time.

I actually got the Beamhouse Batch as my first (and only) Booker's. I enjoy Jim Beam products, and to me it is the sweetest Beam bottles I've ever tried and I enjoy it immensely. Might be partially that I'm not worn out on Booker's, but I'd be curious to see what your thoughts are on it if you do pick it up.

3:25 I haven't had one in a while - an omission I need to rectify - but I like Baby Ruth and used to eat 'em all the time. 🙂 9:16 The original Ding Dongs were wonderful, but the new version is sharp and metallic, and nowhere near as good. 10:52 Three out of the first four have been Booker's! 😮 And all four have been from Jim Beam. But Trenton's picking up on it... 15:28 Well, it's five bottles from Beam, and four of 'em Booker's. That *can't* be a coincidence. 🙂

Good video. Bourbon is so subjective. I love my 2304 Storyteller. It's in my top 5 along with JAck12, Found North b9, Rare Perfection 15, and Elijah Craig C922 (yes I have the 923 but prefer the 922). I will be cracking my Russell's 15yr soon and it may push out the Booker's, still it's a really solid bourbon to my palate (and I lean sweeter)!
