Most of our lives are spent not being in control of our destiny and we just need to live the life we have. So it's very refreshing to see you happy and focused on your future! Keep going strong Michael, I'm rooting for you!

Our pensions last the entire month here in the Philippines including being able to save $$ every month. We live in the countryside of Batangas where our housing costs and food costs are very modest. It is cooler in the country and we have privacy and peaceful quiet surroundings. No aircondtioning is needed, we have Trees and Grass which reduce temperatures unlike the city where it is mostly wall to wall cement. Most of our food is grown by us so that is a huge savings. City services such Medical, Shopping, and entertainment is within 20 minutes or less and access to transportation is easy. Trikes, Jeepneys, and airconditioned buses are nearby and are very low cost. All we have to do is make a simple phone call and our favorite trike drivers will pick us up in a few minutes with Fares of 50¢ or less is very common. It does not make sense to OWN a car when public transportation is readily available. Compare our costs to CITY LIFE anywhere in the world and it's a bargain here. If we had stayed on our FARM in Pennsylvania our pensions would be gone the first few days of the month. We would also still need jobs just to cover housing!

But I read though some viewers found your budget detailed, my 1st impression is that it was not as detailed as you usually post. I’m glad you posted a budget vlog again, always enjoy the topic, but that was my initial impression. It is a fine general overview, but I prefer your very detailed budget breakdowns. The Philippines is a lateral move for a lot of guys especially when you own your own home free and clear, but if you pick your spot you can do it right. I'm retired at 44 and my house on Lake Michigan near Milwaukee is paid off. If I moved to the Philippines I might find myself spending more for a similar quality of life. My property tax and insurance is $5k/year for a 2000 sqft home on the lake. Utilities are around $100/month. Phone (Google Fi) is $30. Food is around $150/month. Since I'm retired I don't drive that much and mostly ride motorcycles. I have no TV or other subscriptions. I mostly watch KZbin vlogs, documentaries, and read. So my monthly is around $800! The US is still very affordable if you pick your location. Weather in the summer because of the lake is basically Southern California. Rarely use AC. Winters are rough but it makes you appreciate spring/summer more. I need the change of seasons. I think I could only live in Baguio. I would still need cool nights in the 60's and even 50's fahrenheit. It's weird to me when everything feels the same 12 months out of the year. I lived in Florida and it drove me crazy.
@markbd977524 минут бұрын
Dealing with the weather in the Midwest? Yep you're crazy. ;) I can't even imagine what a person could eat for 150 bucks a month either.
@RJT8014 минут бұрын
@markbd9775 It's the Great Lakes so it's not quite the Midwest tornado alley where it gets plenty hot in the summer. Again, I chose this specific location for a reason. It's very affordable and more than half the year it's like Southern California but is one of the least taxed states, as opposed to one of the most. I'm single again and I cook at home. I might have a handful of berries, some almonds, and an egg or two but then I fast until dinner. I drink mostly water and I don't go out and party anymore. I aim to keep my meals under $5. Most times it's well under that. I plan on spending my money on more important things like motorcycles, traveling, and maybe spoiling some island girl if I ever make it back out to that part of the world again. :)

My last was 473KWH at 13.54 per KWH p6500. I just got a year insurance on my scooter around p5000, rent p17,000. I just filled up my gas tank for the scooter p500 it will last a month or more. If you like beer, San Miguel lite 10 bottles was just under p600. Food can be expensive I don't like fish but eat a lot of chicken and pork. A whole chicken is about p300 you can buy one cooked for p320. And vegetables you have to get what is in season along with the fruits. But when I stay in Iloilo, I like food, and the food bill go's through the roof. Lol. Favorite thing in Iloilo is Food Panda.

College isn’t expensive at all that runs 20,000 per semester and of course there’s a charge for exams too. So electricity is under 2,000 per month and the propane is right around 1,000. Water comes from the well…But we feed six people a month, and I know they eat very well… My wife wants to move to Canada to be with me and there’s no way because of the cost. But you didn't account for all the improvements cost to the property that you're at. Not to mention you didn't even give us a ballpark on the eating out portion I know why because you're eating out at your own restaurant bar but there's also that travel portion going to different Islands while you're there. I guess you're saying that's what you could spend but you are spending more maybe you just don't have all the bills at the moment what you doing very well and that for me is good enough

@temujinkhan6326Сағат бұрын
@@skariarecords it was sarcasm... with you thinking that if he was making good money with the bar then its OK to overspend. It should not matter if a persons business is doing good. It should not be the factor if a person splurge in his living expenses and for sure not the reason to replace a persons almost new car for a newer more expensive car.

I’m not shocked. The Philippines is way overpriced. Food and housing prices are insane. There are neighboring Asian countries with excellent infrastructure, healthy vibrant food, actual nightlife, actual family tourism industry and not just single males looking for a Filipina. I left the Philippines and cut my budget in half. My house is twice as nice. The infrastructure and western amenities are all top notch. Dating is better too. Street food is healthy, not just salt, sugar, and innards. tbones, pizza, burgers, real espresso all top notch and always in stock. Everything is twice as nice at a cheaper cost. Anyone thinking of moving to the Philippines should visit Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, and Thailand first. To me, the PH totally isn’t worth the price. Yes OF COURSE its cheaper than America and Canada. But it’s easily twice as expensive as the “better” neighboring Asian countries, and the PH is so broken compared to places like Vietnam or Laos. The future looks grim too. Good luck and cheers !

nobody can argue about this for sure,im used to live in north and sadly in south thailand(north way better for your money haha) in different places and even the worse is better then the best in the pH...okay no beach, but im thinking to try in da nang-hoi an in the vietnam maybe next year :) I lived in a lot of places in Thailand,Philippines and cant compare its like compare ferrari with a tuktuk :D

@@skariarecords it has nothing to do with the total amount spent. I have unlimited money. But I’m not going to spend $650 on an apartment with roaches, when the same EXACT apartment is $275 in another country without roaches, with better infrastructure, better nightlife, and healthy colorful vibrant street-food. It’s a no brainer. Simple economics. PH is an easy no-go for me. Your money is well spent in all the neighboring countries, unless you are born there and stuck there, or tied down by a Filipina. Cheers. Best of luck 🤞

@@brandonscoffield9974 Laos, Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia. All of them are far cheaper than the Philippines, with so much more to offer. Cost of housing, healthy cuisine, items in stock, nightlife with 247 shopping & coffee, sidewalks, traffic lights, rapid annual infrastructure growth, etc etc Lots of Filipinos will vacation in Thailand, but how many Thai will vacation in the Philippines? Lots of Families will vacation in Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand. But you hardly see families vacationing in Philippines. It’s just single men mostly in Philippines.

Bar will need to entice the locals to come to spend their time there. Expats are not enough. Problem is locals hate patronizing a business that foreigners are connected to.

It's really hard to get locals to do these things. Living in the Philippines on a island. They like that they like, the menu is very western from what I've seen. If there's no rice they won't see it as a meal etc. it's really hard to get locals. If he sold inasal chicken and rice it would maybe but burgers and fries and pasta etc won't.

@@petesrules1508I've never seen a foreigner owned bar/ Resto attract a consistent Filipino clientele. I've seen many fill all available accommodation, but the Pinoy guests have brought most of their own food. When barhopping they will typically sit on a beer for at least an hour each & often only have one or two. A shared bowl of peanuts.

If your spending up to 200k a month on your bar, that 2 million peso a year could of been used to buy your dream house their rather than rent one and pay more to have it how you want , you could of done that building your own house..anyhow as long as your happy mike that's all that matters, right ?...😊
